I was out of town most of last week. Came home to the yard around a barn all rooted up, so I started trying to get whatever was doing it. I'm way too busy and lazy to wake up every 30 minutes to hunt hogs like I used to, but I made it a habit to check the area every time I got a chance.
Last night on the way home from church, I drove over to that barn. Much to my beloved's shagrin, I almost always spotlight on the way in if it's after dark. I spotted this devil, but being as the only rifle in her ride is in a pelican in back, I killed the lights and went home, loaded up the boys, and came back. It was a risk, but this time it payed off.
My 14yo popped him at roughly 100 yards, from the back of the truck. First shot was back a little, he was in high grass and moving. M193 knocked him over, but he got back up, and the boy put a Texas bullseye on him, splitting the pelvis. My 17yo followed up with a headshot.
This is about as big as boars get around here anymore, and the best cutters I've seen in years, almost 4 inches.
