Do you think we will ever see js8call varac ect on android? So we can use phones in the field?

There has not been a formal release by the original developer since 2019. It would seem he's lost interest. He is, however, still alive and kicking, having recently posted on the groups.io J28Call forum and the website is still live.

If you look on the download page the source code is available. There's nothing stopping you from grabbing it and creating an Android build

If software development is not in your skill set you could try lobbying for someone to do it on the groups.io group. A quick look over there reveals someone did a "2.2" release with the most current hamlib library.

You're just looking at it wrong.  Run linux on your phone, then you can build js8call and other sw at will, except varac.

js8call is a bulky app built over a wsjt-x snapshot.  There's 100,000s lines of c, c++ and Fortran.  It does build cleanly and isn't too hard swap in the latest hamlib.
