I have the slightly older 1000i version.
For the money, it's great - beats the hell out of the Harbor Freight "tailgater" 2-stroke!
One thing it really shines at is recharging large deep-cycle batteries - i.e., trolling motor, RV/Marine or golf cart batteries.
It'll run a switching-type battery charger at well over 50 DC amps - which will bring several hundred amp-hours of batteries up to a full state of charge in short order.
Like most other inverter models, the AC waveform is very clean - better than what comes out of a lot of AC wall outlets:

It would be massive overkill for that purpose - a huge waste of fuel.
A cell phone charger only requires around 15 watts AC - a load so small, the generator wouldn't even know it's there.
The best power source for charging cell phone batteries is another battery - specifically, a 12 volt automotive or deep-cycle battery.
