Hey ya'll just wanted to share some pics from last years (2019) Bear hunt here in NC...

This is not my bear but was on the hunt and was less than 25 yards away in thick brush when it was killed..  The bear actually got a hold of the hunter that killed it....  It tore up his leg pretty bad but he is ok...

This bad boy was right at 760#

Was a hell of a good hunt!  Never thought something that big could move that fast.

Very cool. I've always wanted to try bear meat. What round was it taken with?

He was using a 454 Casull...

He shot it about 4 times...

Bear is good meat... especially if prepared and handled correctly...

A 761lb Blackie got a hold of his leg, He is lucky to be alive & in one piece,  God was on his side. He should write a short story about the hunt.

Bear had his dog... he went to pull it off and it let go and grabbed him.  The bear must have been almost dead because otherwise he would have been hating life!!!

Fu k me! That's bad. Hopefully he didn't lose his leg.

Is there a reason he either didn't use a rifle or didn't have a rifle?

I mean 454 is beast of a gun. Just goes to show sometimes it doesn't matter what your carrying.

It appears this was a hunt with hounds. Probably the guys running dogs never figured to have to kill a bear that size with their handguns. It's tough to follow dogs through rough terrain carrying a rifle, so the handlers carry handguns.
