You guys know how it goes with kids, they outgrow shoes so fast it's hard to justify spending a ton but I don't want them to be junk either.

6 & 7 y/o boys.

The lowest-priced good/decent boots you’re likely to find are Merrell & Keen. Maybe they have kids’ stuff?

I've kept my son in Timberlands and Hi-Tecs.   He uses the same for work and hiking.  They've lasted until he outgrows them, which is not very long.
