I lost 40 meters in about 20 seconds. NC went from 5-9 to unreadable.

Slightly reconfigured my inverted L over the weekend, 20m was dead, couldn't hear a thing. 40 was the best I have heard, and 80 was very good too. Got you guys on 40 that I barely could hear in the static before.

NCS was pretty much gone when the antenna got shifted. 40 m was quite good I thought. 80m was workable but noisy over all. I just realized I stayed with my hustler BTV5 tonight but was working around the antenna today and pulled half my radials aside and never relayed them out. Hopefully next week the rest of the radials are laid, the area covered and reseeded. I am way behind on that and about everything else Spring called for. |

Darn lost track of my days and was busy in the garage. From the sounds of the band conditions I guess I missed having to strain my ears tonight. Thanks to those who participated as well as to listeners who may have reported. 'Here's to better bands next week'. |

One interesting observation I noted though, both you(@21:05) and MA station(21:05) came in loud and clear(solid 5-9), on 80M,for the first time since I have been listening. Usually I never hear stations that are(relatively) close to me, here on Long Island. |

Used a Buckmaster 7 band dipole for the first time, it’s up at about 30 ft with a general orientation of NW to SE. That was me in GA with the new call sign.

I also copied you well; odd that I could barely copy the Jacksonville station which is only about 35 or 40 miles distant. |

View Quote That's one of the great things about our net. With you calling for check-ins on three different bands (20,40, and 80) a lot of the newer hams will really get to see first hand the real, actual effects of propagation on the different bands, like noise, ground wave vs skip distance, etc. I find I can get in fairly regularly from Central Texas on 20m and 40m with current times and propagation conditions, but 80m is a tad far for me, as would be expected. I think I maybe got in once on 80m a while back, and IIRC, it was on a Chameleon MPAS 2.0 portable vertical I had set up in the back yard. This is how we learn about propagation and antennas. |

I am slowly learning...... Oh and Gyprat,....good job on clarifying who you wanted checkins from. I caught that you first asked for those that were not able to check in on the 20 and 40 m bands when you opened up on 80. That is appreciated, I know as a newb that when I couldn’t get through a pile up for a check in I was frustrated as heck. You sounded a bit lonely on 80 for the first few minutes until you opened it up to other stations. But that is good practice I think for the purpose of the net. |

A thunderstorm is on top of us. I don't operate if there is any chance of lightning. The antenna is well above the trees.
I'll keep monitoring the weather and will let you know if I can do the net tonight as we get closer to 8:00 PM ET. I didn't expect any rain and left my VHF radio connected to the antenna. Hope it passes without any hits. |

You are hit and miss at my location. I think sometimes you catch a duct over the great lakes. I used to live on the E side of Lake Ontario and would get some hellacious skip over the lake, usually buffalo, or rochester area burt on really odd nights I’d get Texas or Oklahoma accents on my work VHF into NY. interesting at 2am. |

Short net tonight on 40 meters.
How about we try 3.893 Mhz right now? |

If you are an extra...call vema on 3790. I got a 5x9 from him in Serbia.YT1AA he has killer rx antennas.
I use only 100 watts. |

We had 8 check ins on 40 meters and 5 check ins on 80 meters. Thanks to all for your participation!
I went to 20 meters after the net. Called CQ on 20 meters and had a pile-up that went on and off for 2.5 hours. My voice is gone for today. Most callers were from Russia (western, central and eastern Siberia) and Ukraine. Some were pushing S9+20. Conditions were quite well. SFI is the highest in this solar cycle so far. |
