Nope but I have shot a couple with the  .45/70 with 405gr hard cast bullets. I think they are running around 1700fps. Looks like you drove a crow bar through them length wise.

I'm surprised more big game hunters don't practice with their big bores on Hogs.

I have, 500 gr fmj through both shoulders of a 300ish lb boar at roughly 150 yards.  Entry and exit wounds were pretty much the same size.  Tracking was minimal.

FWIW, the 350 gr hot cores are quite destructive on beavers

There are several guys on Accurate Reloading that use their big bore safari rifles on hog.  Everything from 375 H&H to 600 Overkill.  I wouldn't be afraid to use my 375 Ruger on a pig hunt.  I would actually enjoy it.

Sure, why not?

You can download .458WM with any .45 caliber bullet. 300-350- grainers ought to hammer them authoritatively.

I haven't used mine on one, but I'd probably use some 405s in it if I went hog hunting. You'd end up w/ less meat damage than something faster and consistent penetration.

I kinda liked the 9.3. Double rifles are pretty sexy. But I couldn't afford one let alone escape to Africa for a hunt.

I saw a 458 win mag go through a Hereford bull end-to-end.

I shot one with my .460wby. The 500gr bullet was a bad choice though. But it killed piggy really dead.

Shot a few with 45/70gov and .458 socom. Never with a bolt gun in a .45 caliber though.

I shot a few in Texas with my 375 ruger.  It put them down with authority.  The guides were quite impressed.

I'm sure it will work, but I can't ever envision myself being that mad at a hog.

A buddy of mine shot one with his.  I don't remember which bullet.  The authority with which the hog went down was impressive.  The exit wound and the follow up shot, not so much.

458WM isn't the ideal cartridge for hogs, but, smoke em if you got em!

I caught pretty good sized one today that was really pissed at being in the trap. I was beginning to question if the trap would hold him so I despatched him with the .45/70 instead of the single six .22 mag.

That's where I hit him with the first shot and no the 405gr Hard Cast did not exit. Which surprised the heck out of me.

Next round was close to the shoulder and breaking the off shoulder, but it kept on going shaving some lead as it hit the panel and went off into who knows where. I know I tell people to use small calibers if that's what they have available. But if your going into cover after a wounded good sized hog the bigger rounds are a bit comforting. The biggest hog I have killed to date was with the 6.5 Grendel, but he never knew what hit him. So when hunting hogs my advice is take into consideration how you intend to hunt and how you intend to recover.

That's good advice.  If I'm wading into brush it's 12ga or nothing.  Well, except if I'm just chasing them and not thinking!
