| Cheaper than dirt claims their paracord is US production "mil-spec". I ordered a 300' spool and it looks pretty much like the small hank of 'genuine' stuff I got from a reliable source. I don't know how their prices compare but they have 100', 300' and 1000' sizes. |

I enjoyed making this one too. I used a curved 5/8" buckle I found - of all places - at Harbor Freight. It was part of a cheap dog collar! $2.99 for the collar. When I compared the price to Wilson Tactical, at $1.99/buckle, I figured I could use it. It is a very sturdy buckle. I tried making a bracelet with some other knot (half hitch) but it didn't turn out anywhere near as nice.

I finally found a website that I could understand! I made this in about 5 minutes. I miscalculated how much cord I would need so the loop at the top is a a bit big, Also does anyone have a good way to tie the cord off at the end?

I find it's easier and neater to use a soldering iron to melt them than a lighter. Agreed. Here is a semi close up showing the melt job from the first or 2nd page. I winged the whole thing. I hope this makes sense; Started off with the monkey fist around a small ball bearing, ran one of the tails down to form the loop and lanyard knot, ran it back to the fist and started the cobra stitch with it and the other tail from the monkey fist. Cobra stitch ends at the lanyard knot end. I did it roughly once to get my head around it then unpicked it all and started again. Was a real pain get the length right, had to leave the lanyard knot loose enough to feed cord one way or the other to get the length between the lanyard knot and the monkey fist right. Once I had the length and size of the loop right I tightened it up. And you can probably see in the photo, the tail coming from the monkey fist that goes straight into the cobra stitch sticks out on a bit of a funny angle. But my girlfriend isn't as big a perfectionist as I so it doesn't bother her. At least if it does she hasn't complained. |

Then I tucked them through the back side of the weave using those little forceps or clamps or whatever they're called. |

I just started trying to learn how to tie, so I don't have much to post. I have only been able to find od green paracord at my local military supply store, so I am going to order some other colors soon.
This is a breaching bar from Countycomm. I just wanted to do a cord wrap handle and a simple crown knot. 
This is a Strider SnG CC folder with the same knot. The inner strands are removed for this one.

Interesting and very cool work. My grandpa was in WWII in the Navy and he showed me McNamara's Lace when I was a kid. Can't remember for crap how it worked, but I might have to re-learn it. |
