Depending on weather, I may head out during your times and try portable operation as well. That would be fantastic we will be setup for 10 thru 80 on a wire and possibly an Alpha Antenna tripod deployed vertical on a tripod. I havent used this vertical yet...... maybe I can test it before the event. |

I was planning portable for the net again, but the weather is calling for high winds and heavy rain. We will see if I can put it up in the yard maybe. |

Times are local time (CST); Friday 2/24/23 Missouri APC will be at K-6528 for a two day camp/hike/training event. Cell phone service is very limited. I might put out a POTA spot between 1pm and 4pm depending. Any participation in helping us get some Arfcom contacts would be great. Frequ listed as primary / secondary / contingent 4pm; 21.361 / 21.413 / 21.443 5pm; 14.261 / 14.283 / 14.343 6pm; 7.213 / 7.285 / 7.295 8pm; 3.861 / 3.961 / 3.971 ********** Saturday 2/25/23 8am The Arfcom Tech Net; lets try to gather in the Tech portion of the 10m band. There are folks with Tech licenses that have not got on HF. (SSB) 28.445 / 28.435 / 28.425 If there are Techs that want to try a 10m contact on Friday, post it here with your available times. |

Thanks everyone who got on the air. It started raining pretty good shortly after we started on 40m and had to get in our tents. Apologies. We logged Arfcom/APC contacts on 15, 20 and 40. Almost got one person on three bands including 80...... but had too much noise on 80 but we heard you Florida. I was not aware of the huge DX contest thing happening on 10m this morning, the band was packed. But, we did have a gentleman come for his first APC event, who has a tech license. He got his first HF contact, with a Ukrainian operating out of Germany on SSB in the tech portion of 10m Thanks, until next time....... March 17/18 Attached File |

I did not know rain was in the forecast and my 50ish' feedline would not stretch from the antenna to inside the tent. There were people with horses in the area, so i ran the antenna in the woods behind camp, farther away from possible travel to avoid issues. This location is a 3.5 hour drive for me and the weather app i checked showed zero chance of rain. Then by 6pm there was red on the weather radar and we were attaching guy-lines to our rain flies. I will probably get a canopy of some sort for the radio location moving forward. |

If all frequ are unusable, I will start at the lowest part of the band and start searching to the top of the band until a clear channel is heard. 4pm; 21.361 / 21.413 / 21.443 5pm; 14.261 / 14.283 / 14.343 6pm; 7.213 / 7.285 / 7.295 6:30pm: 28.425 /28.435 / 28.445 8pm; 14.261 / 14.283 / 14.343 - If anyone wants to setup a different comms window for anything 10-80m anytime on this day, please add it to this thread and I/we will make it happen. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The contest; - All contacts made with our camp, that identify as Arfcom will get one entry into the drawing for each band/window a contact is made from. - If you are portable, using an antenna not permanently erected and battery power, you will get two entries per band/window activated as portable. Please identify as arfcom portable. This can be in your backyard, etc. ****** Relays Count ******* - If your info is not current on QRZ and you make contact, please IM or email me your info so that I can mail your QSL card and the prize if you are drawn. ** The prize; 50' of Belden RG-8x Coax and two Amphenol pl259 connectors with reducers. Individual, or built into a length of your choosing by me. If you have an email on QRZ I will ask, if not they will ship as a kit. I will setting up a tarp structure for the radio equipment, so rain, snow, etc will not be an interruption unless high winds blow it all down.

tr(U)SDX 5 watt radio run from a Raspberry Pi. Use VNC from my phone to run all the software. Works great. Small package. 3 18659 battery packs with 3 batteries in each pack. Need to work on making real dedicated packs that I can charge with solar....that's the next improvement. Also been using the Packtenna dipole, but just got a QRP Guys Mini no tune 80 - 10 that I'll be taking out this weekend.

The problems I am running into is my phone (Iphone 8......) and laptop battery draining fast and refusing to charge under about 25 degrees F outside temperature. --------------- Eta: I added details to the info post; Relays will count towards the contest. So if you are qrp or from distant locations, get relayed in from another Arfcom/APC station. So even if you aren't interested in this exercise, your help as a relay might help someone out! |

One last bump for tomorrow. Also, i caught up my QSL cards today a little bit. So if you made contact and i understood you to be arfcom/apc, in February, it should be the mail, unless I noticed i already sent you one prior. My log got pretty wet last month, and I hope i didnt miss someone. Thanks. |

I have one of these, and plan on using it for a radio shack at some point. 6'6" peak, and uses trekking poles as the center pole. Takes just a few minutes to set up. I seam sealed the crap out of it, but I do that to everything. Nothing sucks more than waking up at 3am with water dripping on your face. Plenty of room for a small table and chair, cooler and other stuff.   Failed To Load Product Data |
