Why were there standard and deep socket 51t mounts made?

Some barrels required deep sockets. I think those with barely any shoulder?

But good luck getting a response. AAC is dead.

I think the deep socket indexes off of the crown and the regular one indexes off the shoulder.

I have both types but it has been so long since I used my aac can I can’t remember
