a few days late on that press release. They fucked us and now are scared of losing money so we'll get some bullshit lie about how they had no idea what their paid representative did in their name.

I have three RRA rifles, with plans for two more, until now. To say I'm pissed off is an understatement. This is completely unacceptable.

At the moment, I hoping their PR is just terrible, and they were hoodwinked by a lobbyist. But their lack of an official statement saying that 100% oppose this and are terminating their membership in the IFMA is very worrisome.

I'm holding off on any RRA purchases until such a statement is released.

A press release 4 days too late. Wonder what kind of bullshit spin they will put on this. So glad I sold my RRA AR over a year ago.

If true fuck them.

I've done business with RRA since 2005.  Have 1 RRA factory rifle, 1 complete factory upper, 3 or 4 two stage triggers, a bunch of lower parts kits from them.

I always regarded them as quality kit.

If they sold out I hope they go out of business.

My first AR was a DPMS. While it is a fine rifle and has served me quite well in NRA High Power for the past nine years, it is made in Minnesota.

Screw Minnesota. My next two AR's came from Rock River, and are were excellent rifles.

I'm on the verge of buying a new A2 match upper, and it's down to either RRA or White Oak Armament (who is ALSO from Illinois).

Was leaning toward RRA... but we'll see.

For immediate release: May 1, 2017Rock River Arms, Inc.® (RRA) wants to assure the Illinois (and national) firearms community that we are
still 100 percent opposed to the Gun Dealer Licensing Act - SB1657, the house version of the same bill,
and any potential final legislation that may come from those bills along with any other infringements on
the gun rights of law-abiding citizens everywhere.
For more than twenty years, Rock River Arms and Springfield Armory have actively opposed gun control
legislation at the local, state, and federal levels. In 2009, we partnered with other manufacturers to form
an organization geared towards representing our interests - The Illinois Firearms Manufacturers
Association (IFMA). Historically, that organization has done well in representing us in Springfield, Illinois.
We had no reason to believe that it was doing anything beyond representing the firearms community’s
(Illinois firearms manufacturers, dealers and gun owners) best interests, keeping us well-informed on
relevant legislation and issues, acting on our behalf. In the case of SB1657, there was a disconnect and
that representation was misguided.
While we do believe that IFMA acted in what it felt was the best interests of its members, we were as
shocked as everyone else to find ourselves exempted from provisions of SB1657 and that IFMA was no
longer opposing that bill, even though RRA still opposed it.
Again, Rock River Arms wants to emphasize (regardless of anything that may have been said or done,
mistakenly or otherwise, by any other party on our behalf) its continued total opposition to SB1657, the
Illinois House version of the bill and any final legislation that may emerge. This includes any provisions
found in Gun Dealer Licensing Act SB1657, along with any other threats that may infringe upon our gun
rights.

I am a total newb to this forum but have been an active shooting sports enthusiast for a long time. I wanted to come join here to share my feelings of how utterly APPALLING I find the actions of Rock River Arms and Springfield Armory. To sell out your Illinois dealers, FFL's and customers in order to carve out a beefy exemption for yourselves might be the single dumbest business decision I've seen made in the firearms industry this century. Your industry is over stocked, over crowded, and it's a 100% buyers market for the foreseeable future. Not only that, you have a gazillion anti's with deep pockets trying to screw us all more and more everyday. Jesus, I seriously can't believe this decision. You deserve to go out of business, IMHO, and I hope you do. I vote with my wallet, and guess what, you're not even on the ballot any longer. The people who I feel bad for are your employees. You did them no favors. The news of this decision has spread so far and wide on social media, you'll never get past it. Power to the Pro2A people.

Dumb decisions have HUGE consequences. I learned that when I was six!!!!

They totally didn't know.

If RRA is still affiliated with that lobbyist as of COB today, that press release is crocodile tears. I say that as a guy who's favorite rifle is an RRA.

I find it hard to believe that they acted without input from RRA and SA on something like that, but burning them down would go a long way towards regaining some credibility.

That's it..?.   A statement?   What action is being taken?  Talk is cheap....

I am speechless.  If I owned a company and had a fubar like that I would be taking action and letting my customers know what actions I am taking to fix the issue, and what actions I am taking to prevent the issue from happening again...etc...  Transparency, man...

Man...  You guys FUBARD...

Unreal....

GOOD LUCK...  Your gonna need it.

Rock River Arms< inc (RRA) wants to assure the Illinois (and national) firearms community that we are
still 100 percent opposed ot the Gun dealer Licensing Act-SB1657, the house version of the same bill,
and any potential final legislation that may come from those bills along with any other infringements on
th egun rights of law-abiding citizens everywhere.

For more than twenty years, Rock River Arms and Springfield Armory have actively opposed gun control
legislation at the local, state, and federal levels.  In 2009, we partnered with other manufacturers to form
an organization geared towards representing our interests-The Illinois Firearms Manufacturers
Association (IFMA).  Historically, that organization has done well in representing  us in Springfield, Illinois.
We had no reason to believe that it was doing anything beyond representing the firearms community's
(Illinois firearms manufacturers, dealers, and gun owners) bet interests, keeping us we;;-informed on
relevant legislation and issues, acting on our behalf.  In the case of SB1657, there was a disconnect and
that representation was misguided.

While we do believe that IFMA acted in what it felt was the best interests of its members, we were as
shocked as everyone else to find ourselves exempted from provisions of SB1657 and that IFMA was no
longer opposing that bill even though RRA still opposed it.

Again, Rock River Arms wants to emphasize (regardless of anything that may have been said or done,
mistakenly or otherwise, by any other party on our behalf) its continued total opposition to SB1657, the
Illinois House version of the same bill and any final legislation that may emrge.  This includes any provisions
found in Gun dealer Licensing Act SB1657, along with any other threats that may infringe upon our gun
rights.

I said it in the other thread, but I read that as "Beancounters who aren't gun owners made a stupid calculation and threw all of you under the bus so we can get an exception for a bill we helped pass.   We're sorry we got caught and that it made you mad.   We've got our exception so we'll oppose this thing.  Sort of."

This was a huge mistake in judgement and I don't think it's going to go well for either company.

Your company is full of shit Steve.  Springfield Armory can piss up a rope too.  That response is an insult to your customers' intelligence.  I'd be embarrassed if I were an employee.

I'm done with your products.  I will actively steer new shooters away from RRA and SA.

I'm just an average, middle class guy who loves to shoot.  I'm tired of being shit on and sold out by politicians and companies who are supposed to have my interests at heart.

Did I read that statement right?  Their paid lobbiest represented the opposing interest as the client?  Like in this analogy:

A person is arrested for a crime they didn't commit
Hires a high dollar lawyer
Out on bail for months while both sides work the case
Pays lawyer the whole time while ignoring every detail of case's progress
Goes to court, person's high dollar lawyer says "mutherfucker is guilty, put him in jail"

Like that?  Really?

Only if the FHRC reps have no more than a middle school comprehension of the english language. I'm no grammar nazi-- type as you will online. However, when you are distributing what may be the single most important piece of official communication your company may ever produce... well maybe you should have the person who graduated high school write it.

I know... that's minuscule compared to the overall issue here, but I think it continues to demonstrate poor judgment.

That apology is nice and all... except it's total crap.

RRA and Springfield control IFMA.

IFMA has one employee that does the bidding of RRA and Springfield.

Since 2014, both companies donated $50k annually into the IFMA and the best
they can do is a damage control statement? What a load of crap.

$150k from each company into the organization (to date) and they aren't aware of the organization's actions? Not buying it.
