Tyler,
To accomplish a quick recalibration I have left the joystick controls set up on Level 3 (I think that's the one with the NUC?) and scrolled down to NUC, so all I have to do is cover the lens and hit the joystick.
I don't recall anything on Quick Command so will have to back and read up on it.
It dawned on me that the reason I find the recalibration process such a pita without the Butler Creek cap might be that I am right handed but shoot long guns left handed, and so recalibrating with my off (right) hand means reaching over the Patrol with my right hand to hit the joystick, while simultaneously trying to cover the lens. With the rifle slung for a lefty it is awkward at best, a little better at the bench, but a two handed operation. Never did try recalibrating with my left hand, which would have made more sense.
The forthcoming D Loc mount will put the joystick on the right side, which I think will make the process easier for me, and I think easier for a true righty too. But with the Butler Creek cap recalibration is a breeze.
I'm looking forward to your remote battery pack so I can leave both the Hunter MKII and the Patrol on through a hunt.
FWIW, while we all wait for the remote battery pack, I did find that the Hunter MKII could be turned on for final approach and the required several recalibrations successfully completed without opening the lens cap until immediately prior to mounting the rifle on your shoulder, sticks, tripod, etc.
Thanks again,
JPK
