TNVC recently completed a Nightfighter 101 class at Badlands Tactical in Grandfield, OK from 22-23 October. This was a sold-out class, and we enjoyed having that many students.
Badlands Tactical is a special place for us. Bobby, the host, is amazing—a true “salt of the earth” kinda guy. Works hard to accommodate our classes and students, and we cannot say enough good things about him and his facilities.
We also had a unique opportunity this weekend. The town of Grandfield wanted to do a BBQ to thank us for being in town. We turned it into a fundraiser for the Volunteer Fire Department, which we also added a raffle for some gear. We ended up raising over $2500 for the VFD, an incredible amount of money. We are lucky to have such generous people in our community, that would donate money to an organization that serves a town that they do not live in. It was a very humbling experience for sure.
We saw the last grasp of summer over the weekend: highs in the 90s, with some challenging winds at times. Thankfully, the much-needed rain arrived after we concluded training.
We saw a wide spread of night vision devices in this class. Everything from green PVS14s to white phosphor binoculars. No student complained of being under-equipped, we were able to complete all the drills with little difficulty. Each student had capable equipment that fit their requirements and applied it to the training.
There were surprisingly few difficulties with guns and gear in this class. A good note for students—if you have gear on you that requires special tools (torx heads, metric allen wrenches, etc) make sure that you have those tools available at the range. You never know when a battery might die in an optic, when you might need to remove a part to get access to another piece of the firearm, etc. A small, simple tool kit can be a huge enabler for you at the range.
Our 2023 schedule is out and live on the website. We will return to Badlands twice next year for our full suite of classes. It is a great venue for us to train at, and we will be there for years to come.
As always, several companies stepped up to offer students swag and such for their attendance. We appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes.
