Just barrel would be preferred but I’d buy an UU for the barrel. |

Let me preface this by saying this is a serious question. I am not being snarky.
What are you intending on doing with a 12.5" Grendel? I have the 18" that I use for thumping groundhogs and steel at extended ranges. What are the benefits of the 12.5"? Good handling weapon for 3-gun? If I hang in here too long I might want one too. |

1,000m capable steel plinking pistol, 4-600m capable medium game pistol. So you can travel across state lines without SBR paperwork and still maintain the capabilities.

Hunting completely slipped my mind since Ohio is straight wall only. I’ve even have the first edition of the Grendel Reloading Handbook! They devote an entire section to the effective hunting range.

No LaRue barrel offering is the only thing keeping me from a 6.5G SBR.

Quoted: I take it you’re at higher elevation. My 18” at 800ft MSL goes transonic around 900 yards. What bullet are you using and how well does it make the transonic transition? View Quote LRRPF52 is saying the Nosler 130 RDFs are capable of it. |

View Quote Damn, even at 800 ft that should have no trouble making it to 1000 yards around here. It's over an 1/8" longer than the 123's I'm using now, but it only has to be going 2350 to comfortably make it past 1000 yards at 1200 fps. Well, looks like I need a box of those. |

I’d be in on a 11.5 surge barrel in 6.5 g I’d love to buildAR A Larue pistol.
I’ve always wondered why mark was not in the pistol game |

Mark.
Let’s get this rolling, you are already set up for 11.5 barrels in 6.5g and the masses want a LaRue pistol. I already ordered a brace so I’m building one with or without your help. Do you really want one of your upper/lower builds running a faxton barrel? So let’s make everyone happy and release the short 6.5 barrels for Christmas ?? Pete |

I would be in for one as well. Until then I'm using a BA 12.5G barrel in my UU.

Bump.
Quoted:
...At 500yds, a 12" Grendel shooting the same ammo as an 18", has about 140fps difference in velocity. At the muzzle, a 12" or 11.5" Grendel has more energy than a 20" 5.56 NATO rifle, and retains energy better from thereon downrange... View Quote |

I’m very interested in Grendel myself. I’d be in for an upper even if it was just the standard Stealth kind.

There is no need for Mark to make a 12" UU. The Faxon 6.5G barrels are better, cheaper, and already available.

I'm talking 4-6MOA. I've read that can be a function of the rifling type (the 5R rifling doesn't make enough of an impression in the bimetal jacket of the slightly undersized bullet) so I won't knock it for that, but I built the rifle to be a short, handy steel-ammo shooter so I am a little disappointed. If LaRue released a 12" 6.5G barrel I would snap one up immediately and give it a try. But I'll probably end up buying the 11" Alexander Arms barrel unless Mark drops a ~12" soon. |

Has anyone tried a 6.5 Grendel UU and having the barrel cut down and threaded? Would there be any function issues by doing this? If so, I would rather do that, keeping a LaRue Barrel in my pistol rather than throwing a Faxon or BA barrel in it. But I notice they are all carbine length gas systems and it looks like the LaRue is a mid-length gas system.

tagging - just ordered 6.5G mags from Larue and would also buy a 6.5G UU w/ ~12.5" barrel

Quoted: I wouldn’t cut it down short enough to be considered a pistol, what with the mid length gas system. Having said that, I did cut one of my two 18” LaRue Grendel barrels down to 14+ inches, P&W to make it a legal length. While I realize it was a gamble of an experiment, it has run flawlessly so far. As you can see in the picture, it’s being used as this years deer rifle. I have a lot of confidence in it. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/60910/DBFC5EBF-BAFC-403A-8281-B6B151637909-777000.jpg View Quote |

How about an early builder kit to build your own 12” Grendel upper with that new LT handguard
Get them out on the front lines of world war handguard |
