Anybody have a 901 and the DPMS GII? Curios if there's a chance the upper might be compatible with the 901 lower, with an adapter. It would be nice to have some options as far as barrels, forends, etc. Particularly if one were to be able to Form 1 SBR one.
Asked this in the GII thread too. |

I don't own either but I will say no, it won't work. 2 totally different proprietary systems. Not a engineers dream. Different people different times different budget different customers. We can dream but that is far fetched. It probably won't work, but it might. Mounting an non-Colt .308 upper, you'd be indexing off the magazine well. Your forward takedown pin adapter can shift the upper in any direction, but everything will index off the magazine. If your rear takedown pin doesn't line up, you could use a smaller pin and offset bushings if the holes overlap. If the radius of the upper is cut short, then you have a gap - no problem. If it's too long, you'll have to cut the upper or lower. The hammer strike location has a little wiggle room but not much. I think if you have a DPMS G2 upper, you can throw a magazine into the Colt, and drop on the upper. See if the rear radius is compatible w/o cutting. See if the rear lug pin holes overlap. Then take primed unloaded brass & see if you get primer strikes. Then see if it'll feed. IF all that lines up, then you could see about cutting an adapter. |

Well my firing pin broke :( I only have about 500 or so rounds through the rifle. As far as I can tell it bent, but it's currently stuck in my bolt so I can't get a good look at it. I read earlier on this forum that an armalite firing pin had the same dimensions other than the taper at the end. Has anyone done any testing with the armalite pin in the 901? If so, can I swap the spring off the colt pin onto an armalite one? Any feed back is appreciated!
thanks |

For anyone that is still looking to pick up the conversion block, Clyde Armory dropped the price by $20. Their shipping is still but the block doesn't seem to be available anywhere else except Colt.

Two questions :
1) parts - want a full BCG and the usual sets of springs - I've seen mentioned that its "different" - how different from other 308 BCG's - enough to warrant trying to find a colt one? will they sell it to me and where? 2) I'm going to be putting a Geissele trigger in it - is the old trigger standard AR mil spec - i.e. will it work in other AR's or is it specific to the LE901 I put a box of cheap PMC 308's through it yesterday and really like the balance and handling. Now it just needs an optic.. |

Use the trigger and hammer pin that comes with the 901 in your Geissele trigger. I am running a SSA in mine. |

Rather have a spare if its not an arm and a leg... I'll post what they quote me. And the FCG in it plus the Geissele pins will go in the "spare AR parts" section. Thanks for both points. |
| Geisselle does offfer pins for the 901. |

I picked up my 901 last night, after Adco made it NJ compliant.
For the time being, it's wearing a TA01NSN ACOG until I decide on an optic. Sorry about the iPotato pics.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/6qy06aohyb4uyr1/Photo%20Jul%2012%2C%207%2013%2040.jpg |

| I got my 901 back after round two back to Colt. This time they put a new BCG in the rifle. The new bolt has a three piece gas ring instead of the one piece that was on the old one. Other than that (and being all new and pretty) I can't really tell what, if any, other differences there are. |

Mine's #107 and it's been completely reliable. Same with mine, but it does not seem to like CBC ammo that much. I get a few failure to feed. It seems the bolt is not going back all the way in order to retrieve the next cartridge. I have only tried with two mags, so it may also be a mag thing and not the gun's fault. Regardless, this only happened a few times and only with CBC ammo. I'd say the gun is very reliable. |
