As much as ire as I have for Troy, it doesn't seem like a shill post (yet) ... just a question about a gun recently announced. http://www.alloutdoor.com/2016/01/22/troy-defense-gau-5aa-son-tay-raider-limited-edition-carbine-at-2016-shot-show/?utm_source=Survivalistboards.com&utm_medium=RSS+Feed&utm_campaign=RSS+Feed |

Should I give a resume now? been around here since 2000 joined in 2007. owner of ARM LTD. back in the 70's.No Troll, just info seeking on this rifle. If I have to drop names. Dave Selvaggio, Eugene Stoner, Chuck Dorchester,Bill Helmer, Bob Landies, Neal Smith, Reed Knight, Ken Elmore,Joey The Clown, and a few hundered other's. now can we talk about the rifle or is it Verboten here. And the owner of Mag-Pul bought a nice 28 Thompson from me.
And Reed doe's still enjoy my old AR-10 and Stoner series he bought from me. and I don't know Steve Troy. just want him to ship a rifle that brought good memories to me. I did not mean to fray any nerves or tick anybody off here.It was a simple question. Oh yeah 38 plus years as ffl/sot before I retired.oh yeah Semper-Fi 1968/74 Okay Rant over. thanks RON K. |

View Quote Ron, Nothing wrong with lurking. To answer your question, I don't think anyone has seen it yet. Troy seems to have done a pretty decent job from what I've seen, certainly better than Colt doing a Xm177 with an A2 upper and calling it retro. I kicked around the idea of picking one up myself. |

Thanks for the honesty. I ordered one already and they said two week delivery. I seem to be the only guy that might have ordered.one. and a local buddy also asked me about it. all I was able to do was show him the 2016 shot show vid. and said call Troy and order. and I have found no builder that has a ready to go one right now for sale for less money. and figured the donation to the pow/mia thing was great.
Don't get into the Troy issue or whatever it was about.Lifes way too short for bull crap.. I enjoy all the guns too much.Just mad that I am getting so freaking old to enjoy it as much as back when. Probably the original Son -Tay raiders feel the same for those that are still kicking. When I get it in will give my thoughts.since they said first fifty or so are two weeks out.I was hoping somebody had in hand first hand knowledge of one.not just a guy who fondled one at shot show.{unless they really checked it out} Thanks again for the good response. RON K. View Quote Ron, I don't know anything about the "Troy Issues", but I remember seeing these rifles come up on the Retro boards. Some of the ones at shot show looked to have A2 port doors and the controls looked pretty dark in color compared to the grey of the time. That said, the website for them shows rifles that do have the correct port door. Since you have ordered one, it would be great to see a review for the Retro forums. |

Once I get it in hand.I will give a short report here on what I think. I have been involved with AR'S from the AR-10 AR-18 and all the others since the early 70's., in full auto and semi form. So do know a little about them.I was glad To hear and see the Shot Show preview fairly Early.
I am not one of those internet Commando's.just a guy who has been there done that and had fun with it. And now enjoying what's left in Life.and of course having so many originals in the past a little Nostalgia for a old guy... Kind of like when you remember Elvira on Halloween, and revisit. RON K. |

I talked with them yesterday,There is some production delay, it might be another month for delivery now. Did not go into what it is. Just now another month out.Maybe they got more orders to back things up. Mine is ordered and supposed to be in first batch run. Can't wait.

Just need the serial number before 7/13 :) |

I TOLD them do me a favor and send me the Serial number on the invoice before they ship it. Will be glad to own it, And can care less what others may think about it. being a new made repro and all. It is done to honor those guys., and that is enough for me, And
I have had original's and still own Colts today. For me its a long look back. since looking forward now its day by day.I hope they do sell 150 of them. because it will be a nice check of $7,500.00 for the POW/MIA cause. And I am sure that is a lot more then other outfits are doing today. RON K. |

It's a fine rifle and I think it's a great value and the tweaks made to the rifle between SHOT and now were well executed. (Bayonet lug removed & what I believe is a proper end plate retaining nut instead of a castle nut.) |

Just ordered mine today, is there much of a wait?

The included extras were a really nice touch! (20 & 30 round mags, sling, stickers, a reprint of the late 60's "comic book" for soldiers, two other retro looking manuals, note about the donation for each rifle. It's quite the package compared to the usual "pmag and a registration card". Oh yeah and instructions for attaching the sling... It's not intuitive. |

Mine will show up Thursday. Sadly, I'm getting on a C17 in a few hours and won't be able to play for a few months.

Have mine for past couple of weeks. Haven't shot it yet. Seems like the finish on the upper comes off easily and exposes the black anodizing underneath the gray finish. Going to email CS about it.

What a ass, you do realize with a 2013 join date, and a sub 1500 post count, it makes me wonder from reading this post what usefulness your posts even are? Posts to rack up post counts or simply add nothing to the forum and just waste band width. The only troll I see is the 2nd poster. |

Just FYI with the XM177E2, the buffer detent spring hole seems to have been drilled too far back. This causes the buffer to strike the tip of the detent instead of the rear of the BCG. After firing 30 rounds, my buffer is chewed up.
Rifle on way back to Troy. Not sure how they will fix it. My GAU is fine in this regard. |

Just got a GAU about 2 wks ago
