PSA KS47 Official thread (Page 24 of 28)

10.5" uppers are in stock. And day 20 since sending in my BCG for a broken extractor, for my first PSA experience it was so good to be my last. First you buy a lower that you can't build much off of, wait months for uppers to come in stock, extractor breaks on it's first outing, and wait some more. I'd think if it took so long to get the part in they would be rock solid, but what do I know I only have a degree in industrial engineering |

I know 7.62x39 is prone to breaking extractors but I'm thinking a redesign might be in order. |
No matter how important it is, it can be taken WAY too fucking seriously.

| What buffer and spring combination are you guys using with your KS47s? I'm trying out an H3 and a Tubbs flat wire spring to see if that helps retard the bolt a bit. |

Maybe the extension is a little off and the lugs/extractor are hitting to extension? Everything still has to fit in an ar15 upper which limits the amount of extra material that can be added to anything. |

Words fall from your mouth like shit from ass.
| I sent them an email along with a copy of a schematic i found showing the instructions on how to cut it. Turn around time was like 1.5-2 weeks, USPS took forever to get it back. But the bcgs are legit and work with most of my mags, some of the pmags need minor filing but they're polymer so no big deal. |
| I was told that a new BCG will be shipped out to me more than 2 weeks ago by Josiah. Haven't received nada as of today, and dude ain't even replying to my msg. - Note From Josiah - I had e-mailed the department that ships out the parts. I thought I had replied to you stating that was I waiting on the tracking. I just called that department, and I am waiting on a call back from them. I apologize for any frustration and the delay. I will message you as soon as I here back today. Josiah. |

Does anyone know the functional differences between the Gen 1 bolt and the Gen 2? I picked up a spare BCG off the EE which turned out to be a Gen 1 and right off I can tell the lugs aren’t rounded like the Gen 2. Wasn’t this upgrade made to allow better function of Pmags (or maybe it was metal mags). |

Been looking into picking up a KS47. How widespread are these early extractor/bolt breakages? If its such a common issue, I may just look into picking up a CMMG MK47 since PSA's prices complete rifle/pistols are starting to get close to MK47s. Adjustable gas block the solution? |

Keep in mind that the extractor issue isn’t exclusive to the PSA guns, but pretty much any AR chambered in x39 with a bored out AR-15 bolt. |

Alright yall sold me! 😂. Ill swap to adjustable gas block right away. Anyone seem the 10” model in stock lately? Also, do the barrels have a good shoulder for proper muzzle device concentricity? Im planning on throwing a suppressor on it. Had poor shoulders on all of my PSA 300 blackout barrels.... |

I shoot mine suppressed just fine with a Griffin minimalist brake and 10” Form 1 can. |

Overbored to .400 since I was using it on an AR9. Sounds good too, especially with the PPU subs. |

How many of yall with round counts greater than 1000 are running 10.5” or shorter barrel? Wondering if bolt breakages are much more common on the shorter barrels.... For those with shorter than 16” barrels, can you post your round counts and whether or not youve had bolt breakages? |

| I spoke with Jamin the other day. He told me the replacement extractors have been redesigned and use a harder material. I've got about 200 rounds on my replacement extractor. I don't anticipate anymore problems although I'd like to have a couple of spares for just in case. |

Good feedback, Gents. I picked up a ks47 lower. Looking for a 10.5” upper with fixed A2 front sight now. @PalmettoStateArmory Any idea on restock of this upper? https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen2-ks47-10-5-carbine-length-7-62x39-1-10-nitride-classic-upper-with-bcg-ch.html |

If it will fit in the AR15 carrier then it will fit in the KS47 carrier since they have similar dimensions. |

I know the bolt carrier is proprietary, just not sure if the bolt is..... The Gen2 KS47 bolt is specifically milled @ the lugs to clear AK mags. This was one of the changes PSA made in their Gen2 guns based on issues with the Gen1s. You *might* be able to get a standard 7.62x39 AR bolt to work, but you'd have to test it out with a variety of AK mags to see which combination is reliable. |

You will most likely have feeding issues with other manufacturers bolts used in our carriers. Thank you, Josiah |

Would this JP enterprises Adjustable Gas Block work with the KS47s with A2 front sights on them (like the one I linked above)? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1003364111 |

Is that what you're seeing in terms of binding? Internal binding more so on the inner part of receiver. If I were to go with a side charger Id probably just go with the Gibbz one. Downside with Gibbz, is Im not sure PSA would still warranty the upper (mostly concerned about PSA BCG breakage), since the swapped receiver is not manufactured by them. |

I don't think so. I think it's just a standard m4 with the feed ramps removed basically. The single feed ramp helps with feeding because of the taper of the round so you may have feeding issues with standard m4 ramps but a different barrel should fit. Question is why would you want to change out the barrel |

| Superlative Arms adj gas block made the most difference. Went to a VLTOR A5 tube and tried 3.8, 4.5 & 5.3oz buffers, tried 308 & 223 rifle springs, both JP round & Tubbs flatwire. The best combo was A5H1 4.5oz buffer with Tubbs flatwire 308 rifle spring, which is what I'm running now. Muzzle devices didn't seem to make much difference so left the SJC Titan in place. Dot still bounces more than 223 but its as good as its going to get with a carbine gas system. I wish these things came with mid gas. The A5 tube & rifle springs seemed to help, but overall the single biggest improvement is adjustable gas. |
