Have a LaRue lower laying around and figured I should get one of these kits. Not many pictures out there yet so maybe we can get some posted here. I have a 14.5 tobr so I’m thinking about an 18” MLOK upper but not entirely decided.

I ordered a UU kit. they originally sent it with a key-mod rail. I asked if they could swap it for the mlok, and customer service said to send back just the rail.
When I placed my order mlok was not officially an option. I did put in the notes that I would prefer the mlok version if that was going to become available to order with the UU, but saidin the notes I would be glad to take either version when mine was ready to ship. A few weeks later they updated the website making mlok available to order I called in and asked if I could update or if I had to cancel and reorder. I was told that they would update the order but it could add a few months. I was surprised to receive my kit a week or so later. It had the key-mod version so I contacted CS to see about making the swap. Two weeks later... lol. I have my new rail. Sorry for the long story but that's how I ended up with just a mlok rail being delivered. I'll try to get a better pic today. Tried taking some last night but the lighting in my basement is terrible. |

One thing I noticed. And not sure if it has been updated on the key-mod version...
My new rail came with longer screws and they are not recessed into the flanges on the rail when fully tightened. Don't know if that has been pointed out already in another thread. |

Quoted: This isn't a UU, but an M-Loc Stealth 2.0. Still, the screws are as he described. https://i.imgur.com/u9dPHEw.jpg?1 View Quote |

So essentially the screw heads are exposed as opposed to being recessed? I’m alright with that. I’m fact I kinda already thought they were.

Don't mean to whore mine out or anything, but a slightly better daytime view for those interested. https://i.imgur.com/Kd5NAhe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eZUoqvp.jpg View Quote |

Have handled keymod and mlok the rails are completely different. Keymod has much smaller profile, hence the difference in mount screws

Quoted: My 6.5G in UDE I’m MLOK should be here Friday. Interested to see if it will come assembled or not. (I didn’t pay for assembled) I will be changing out the Tranquilo brake for a SiCo one. I’m probably going to run a SLR adjustable gas block too. View Quote Still have a few things to get before the lower gets here so I can get that together. |

Quoted: Thanks for that info. Didn't measure them, just noticed the screws. Figured they started off the same and just milled one way or the other. Happen to have specs on the difference? Guessing if I had the chance to hold them both at the same time it would be obvious. View Quote |

If anybody has both a keymod and a m-lok version what are the dimisions for both?
The m-lok rail does not appear to have the step down the keymod rail has between the cutouts and the bolt flange. |

Quoted: Call them up again. Be extra nice and see if they can do it for you this time. By no way am I assuming you weren’t nice the first time. View Quote Pretty dissapointed that was the outcome but I figured it would be from my previous conversations with them on the topic. Sucks to have purchased 9 rifles and god knows how many accessories from them over the years, then the one time I asked to make an exchange with a product I hadn’t used to get turned down. I understand their stance because tons of people would probably want to send back the keymod, but still dissapointing. I moved on from that issue and it’s a great gun the way it is, I just wish they would have extended the same opportunity to swap mine out before it was used. As I said originally, looks like you got lucky! |

Quoted: Yeah tried again... was very friendly like I am every time I call them. They told me they don’t do it unless the upper hasn’t shipped yet. I explained I saw a post where they had done it and that I had made the same request months ago, long before my lower even shipped. He said people can go online and say LaRue gave them 16 free rifles and it doesn’t mean it happened... (he did back off this tone as our conversation continued, he was polite the rest of the time).
