So it’s my opinion that the LaRue QD lever system is the best way to put anything on a gun... lights, optics, bipod and so on.
I wasn’t satisfied with shooting off a hog saddle. The rubbery grip flexed in my opinion.
So I started looking for a way to attach my OBR to the tripod I already had. Yes I know manfrotto is an option but I had already gone down a different path.
So parts
LT271
BT56 adapter
Sunwayfoto DPG-39R (RRS makes a more expensive option. Figured I’d try cheap since this was just an experiment. Key is that both plates have a shelf that prevents rotation.)
I’m hoping someone can figure out a less complex set up or LT will make an arca Swiss / rrs adapter for picitanny.
So far I’m really liking it.
First off the weight, bulk and height above the tripod are significantly reduced from from the hog saddle.
From 2 trips out shooting 308, Grendel and 556 I’ve felt like the direct picitanny mount is much more stable resulting in better accuracy.
