Pretty sure the M4A1 RIS-II is only carbine, as the gas block needs to sit in the cut-out of the rail. The RIS-III, I believe is mid-length.
The RIS-3 line looks rather attractive, but DD should not call this a M4A1 rifle. Just like Geissele should not call their URGI upper receiver group a URGI. Both are commercial variants of a military rifle, but DD and Geissele have move so far beyond what an M4A1 or a URGI is that the nomenclature is worn out.
