I grabbed a 6-24 GLx4 with the Athena when they went on sale a few weeks ago. My experience with it at this point is extremely limited but I’ll share. I have not shot with it yet so take all this for what it’s worth.
Pros:
- the reticle is super crisp and easy to navigate
-illumination is great
- I love everything about the turrets, the locking system, the ability to go below zero, them being short and wide vs. the more common tall and narrow, the clicks are spaced well and audible
- the glass is clear but I’m not much of a glass snob so I may not be discerning enough, I’ve owned vortex viper PSTs and gen 1 razors, a sig 6-24 and Various hunting scopes, I’ve looked through PA platinums, nightforce, us optics, high end bushnells, Burris XTR IIs and gen II razors.
I would put the glass on par with the XTR II which in my opinion is better than the Viper pst and maybe a tiny bit above the sig but not as good as your really high end stuff.
-shake awake illumination
-the eye-box is pretty good for a 24x scope in this price range
Cons:
-the illumination knob is pretty tight to turn on mine, this is minor and I assume it will break in a little with use
-the focus is a little tight too but not bad
-I wish it were one of the short, compact style scopes that are becoming more common but I'm sure that would come with a price difference and it’s really only preference
-I think a scope of this price range should include a sunshade
