Saw a post on Reddit with an email from Geissele confirming they will no longer use the 158+ bolt in super duties. Only in the higher end rifles. Is this true? @gacs @sagmill The carpenter 158+ was a major selling point for the super duty. |

There are a ton of newer types of steel and its hard to envision C158 still being optimal after 70+ years....surely there is a better steel. The Forged Stressproof Bolt is made from Carpenter 158+, directly developed with Carpenter Steel metallurgists to create a material that is cleaner and has less impurities. This makes the Stressproof Bolt® stronger and more fatigue resistant, capable of 5 times the life of a mil-spec bolt. |
