I actually had a nice little adventure when I purchased my gun from PK.
It all started a while back I went to a gun show at a convention center here in the Saint Louis area and saw a booth for PK. I was in the market for a stripped AR lower and asked them if they had any Daniel Defense lowers and the man said no, I said thanks and went on my way. Then about two or three months ago after a lot of research and reading up on ARs I started really looking for a complete Daniel Defense rifle. Unfortunately, none of my local stores had any so I took my search online. Eventually I settled on PK after checking them out and satisfying myself with some online reviews. I also chose them because they are Illinois residents as well, about two hours away, which meant I was able to possibly pick the gun up from them myself. I called them up and spoke to a nice lady whose name I cannot now remember, asked them some payment questions and such, then I mentioned that I was an Illinois resident and would it be okay to just come by and pick the gun up myself as I just did not have it in me to wait a few more days after having waited all this time saving up. She said sure, warned me that it wasn't the easiest place to find, and I went ahead with the purchase.
First off, you don't know what you are missing if you have never had the chance to drive around the back roads of Illinois asking random passersby 'do you know where that gun store is?' with a GPS that really seems to have some kind of learning disability and has no idea where it is at any given time.
Second, bring something to drink cause ain't NOTHING between Saint Louis, Missouri and PKFirearms on the roads my GPS told me to take.
So I finally get there and set eyes on a glorious DDM4v5, fill out the usual gun paper that asks if I am crazy, if I beat women, commit lots of crimes, or if I have ever renounced my citizenship (I don't even know how one would go about doing this). I replied no, then I went back home. The next day I called my buddy up and asked him if he wanted to tag along with me to go pick it up. He did, and I did. The gun shoots great and I have enjoyed the hell out of it so far.
In closing, I spent over three times as much on gas as I would have just having my gun shipped to a local FFL, but a buddy and I had a great time driving all over Illinois trying to find PK and are now planning our next minor road trip, to go fishing and shooting in Southern Illinois. The folks there were very nice and I did not have any issues at all with PK or with the gun, and would have no problem recommending them to others.
