Never mind, I talked to Spikes and ordered one of their bolt carrier groups and will send the Faxon back to AIM Surplus.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally got the last of the parts to finish putting my 9mm pistol build together. Got it all together, grab the charging handle and no go. Will not budge. The bolt carrier and charging handle will move freely in the upper. With the bolt carrier removed upper and lower go together fine. With the bolt carrier installed it is really tight. With the pivot pin pulled out and the take down pin in it will cycle but it is definitely rubbing. I believe that it is an issue with bolt carrier and the feed ramp but I'm not positive. I found this thread with the same issue Spikes dedicated Colt pattern lower Aero upper Faxon Gen 2 9mm bolt carrier ALG ACT trigger Any ideas? Thanks |

The whole problem may be with Spikes feed ramp.
That is where the Faxon BCG was making contact. Once I got the BCG issues straightened out I found out that my mags would not go in far enough for the mag catch to lock into the notch. I ended up taking some metal off the little lip on the feed ramp that keeps the mags from going too far into the receiver and also some metal off the mag catch to get it to work. That is one of the reason I kept putting off building a 9mm set up. I kept reading about all the folks having issues getting them to run right. Mine is working correctly now, I think. Still need to do some more testing. The easiest thing might be to try taking some metal off the top of the feed ramp. You can get another one cheap. I would guess about a 1/16" based on the gap between the upper and lower near the pivot pin. |

Before I did this the bolt did not want to close and i found some finish removal from the bottom of my bolt which obviously came from the sharp corners of the feed ramp. 
Now the bolt clears the feed ramp and can go into battery

spikes and terms like quality, standard, and reliable don't go together. Dump the spikes lower and get a Colt, BCM, LMT, etc. lower. If one has to file, dremel, modify, etc., then the problem part is not manufactured to industry standards.
I put. 9mm 8.5" sbr together with Hahn dedicated magblock, Faxon 8.5" barrel, Faxon 9mm bolt, and KAK heavy 9mm buffer. 1000's of rounds down the pipe with no issues. Buy quality and spend time shooting vs. fixing... |
