Makes me kick myself for leaving a 6920 SOCOM on the Walmart shelf for $799 a few years ago.

You couldn't give a Colt away in my area. They just sit on the local message boards. Nothing around me appears to be selling regardless if it is a Colt or not. It even seems like reasonably priced Colts on EE sit for a long time.

Yep, the panic is over. Only the stuff that is priced how it used to be is actually selling. Even guns and uppers that are marked up just a couple hundred aren’t selling.

I am at the point where I think I'm going to sell off a bunch of Colt stuff (if I can sell it) and buy a Knights Armament SR-25. My buddy has two SR-25s and they are a lot more impressive than my LE901. I think the scare was a ploy to bring up sales for Colt (clear out the backlog).

Doesn’t really seem like the restricted marking are making much difference from what I have seen.

A seller has to hope someone that is specifically looking for restricted marks finds their sale ad and are willing to pay a higher price. View Quote Quoted: Like every one else has said, they don't particularly fetch a premium for the RESTRICTED/EXPORT/LE ONLY (whatever it actually was) marks on the right side of the magwell. There was a short time when they did, several years ago, when Colt stopped the marking but that premium pricing didn't last longer than a few months an most people don't care about that now. I occasionally do a search on GunBroker for 6720 since it's my flavor.
Is it my imagination or are prices up all of a sudden? ( I know some of these variants are "special" but it seems like the plain Jane ones are up in price, too). https://www.gunbroker.com/All/search?Keywords=colt%206720 |

People can ask all they want, but they aren't getting much action. Most of them have no bids.

View Quote From what I am seeing though, if you are wanting a new Colt you are going to be paying in the $1000 range for something basic. I also think this is about where the prices will level out and stay until election time. There may be a small spike in prices a month or 2 before election. Outcome of the election will determine where the prices go from there. |

I just got offered $1550 for my Colt SOCOM plus 200 rounds of 7.62x51.
Not sure if I’m going to take the deal. I wanted to buy a Springfield SOCOM. I haven’t shot the colt but wanted to “clone” it. I have three other 6920’s with the 16” barrel. |

Seems like 6920s are still trickling out of LE dealers into regular commercial sales.

Kind of funny. That was the deal back in 2004 when the Clinton Crime Bill ended. Colt was supposedly only selling to law enforcement and "restricted" marked ones were not supposed to be sold to civilians. What a crock of shit that was.

Let's be honest - besides the induced panic Colt made by 'halting sales', there is limited desire for a 16" Carbine Gas FSB rifle these days.
Most people want mid-gas or no FSB, or a shorter barreled rifle, or a combination thereof. Love Colt quality but the only two rifles they got me to buy were the 6920 Trooper and CM762. |

Quoted: True. I love Colt. The truth is that they did not keep pace with market demands. They should have been doing CHF CL mid gas with the updated ambi lowers they showed a few years ago at SHOT and better fore end options. Maybe an upper with the replaceable steel cam pin bearing but that accepts a standard barrel nut and handguard. They should have been competing in the KAC and LMT sphere, not the PSA sphere. The “m4 carbine” pistol eligible lowers are going to bring a premium over a rifle take off.
IMHO, the Commando lower is in a different category as there are only around 150 floating around. Prices are hard to follow because they don’t come up for sale often. There was one on the EE a little while back that was built out as a rifle, all Colt with a 6933 upper and pinned and welded to legal length. IIRC it was in the $3000-$3500 range. It got marked as sold but know idea what it actually went for. I have one built out as a pistol. There are times I think about putting it on Gunbroker to see what it would actually bring. |
