Some random thoughts/questions:
Colt currently has contracts to produce rifles for not only the US Military, but also for Foreign Military sales, correct?
Doesn't the TDP call for various components to be marked 'C' or 'F', in the case of FN?
Wasn't there a change to the TDP that states that instead of the 'C' markings, they are to be stamped instead with the cage code (13629)?
Is that why we are now seeing, albeit inconsistenly, '13629' marked upper receivers, barrels, extractors and charging handles?
There are pictures floating around of FN produced military rifles with cage code marked uppers and barrels (3S679).
So, if the TDP now calls for the cage code to be used on various components, are these BCG's specced differently than than what the TDP calls for?
I have yet to see a cage code marked carrier, but reports of no 'C' on carrier, no 'C' on bolt, etc. makes me question if these BCG in question are specced appropriately.
** I feel confident they are the "same" sans markings, I'm just posing the question.
Should we be seeing, in the near/distant future, bolt carriers stamped with '13629' in the same way Toolcraft contract carriers have been stamped '1B1B6'?
It's always been said that Colt military M4's and the civilian counterpart use the same components, same production lines, etc. Is that no longer the case?
There have been other changes to Colt civilian rifles (6920), such as no 'F' marked FSB. Is that another TDP requirement that Colt no longer follows on their civilian rifles?
I can't answer any of these questions; I'm just spitballing here.
