They jacked the price up to $1393 again. Colt seems to have wised up, and has had to have made WELL over 200 of these. These don't appear to be limited-run like the 2017s. View Quote |

There have been multiple vendors that have had the new SOCOMs in stock for days/weeks at a time. Additionally, there have been gun shops selling them on Gunbroker. I can't say I am 100% certain but I do not see how the number released to date would be under 300 to 400 at least.

Stock must be getting lower, they went up $30.00..They seem to raise prices as stock diminishes ....They come from a distributor. Not in their physical warehouse from my experience

Dealer X, Y, and Z all use A. Can each dealer all show 20 in stock and if X sells 10, Y and Z’s stock goes down to 10 even though they didn’t sell any? Or is each dealer allotted a certain number out of the 20? |

The last one I bought from Grabagun shipped from a distributor in Maple Grove,Mn..Was also curious how they handled the amount they show in stock...Bill Hicks Dist.I believe

I just got mine. Is there anyone else who is a little skeptical about how they are turning out? Missing the VFG and other KAC panels too. Box far more flimsy than in the past. The bag is different and appears to be cheaper too than the old ones with the blue stripes.

Presumably if anyone is missing accessories a call to Colt should remedy this?

It is nothing like anything I have got from Colt before. Others have made observations about the parts and their seemingly generic nature. The assembly does look like another comment I saw about some kind of effort at a clone. I expect it will function quite well, but I think I may have reason to wonder. If these observations are trivial to you fine. I am only interested in seeing if there are others who are also skeptical. -"Wondering if something is amiss at Colt" |

Yes, you are all correct, Colt will likely make good no the misssing VFG and KAC panels. My point is that I SHOULD NOT have ask Colt for them. The box is indeed more flimsy. I agree with everything that is supposed to be in the box should be in the box but I could care less if the cardboard box is flimsier or a less mil plastic bag to hold the accessories

Thanks for the info! I hope that increased production drops these into the $1200 range. I already snagged one for a Block II build, but wouldn't mind another for a URG-I build. View Quote |

So, fun question: Did the box label on anyone else's 2018 model SOCOM say "M4 CARBINE / SEMI-AUTO (2013 Config*)"? I'm wondering is this is a typo, or if I'm misunderstanding that asterisk. Model number and serial were both correct, so it wasn't mispackaged. Not that it matters either way; the gun itself is great.

Kind of weird but mine has a bolt marked only "MP" with no "C" on it. No "C" on the carrier either which I know is the new norm though.
Got the rifle from grabagun. Anyone know why I may have received a non-MPC marked bolt? |
|
[#31]
Part markings equals higher labor costs. The number of part markings are being reduced to reduce production costs.

Looks like these are in stock EVERYWHERE now. I keep getting the UPC alerts from gun.deals.
I suspect we'll see these sub $1300 soon. |

I compared it to my Colt cage code marked one and the handle is much thinner. Kind of disappointing. |

I've got one coming from RSR on Weds. I wonder what I'll get.

Question here. I bought one of these a few months ago during the initial frenzy. The bolt carrier is not marked, but the blot has the paint and the normal mpc marking. The charging handle does not have the cage code, nor any markings I could spot. Did we determine that these things are not Colt made, or subbed out? Thanks!

View Quote It is rare for Colt to put cage codes on charging handles (on rifles that get to civilians) so your handle may or may not be a Colt part. So it appears some of these have Expanse parts/subbed parts and some don't. |

Ordered one of these from Grab a gun a couple weeks ago. Added a USMC TA-31 Acog on it.
I’ve been happy with it so far. The only thing I didn’t care for on the fit and finish is that they didn’t black the pin on the permanently attached flash suppressor. Even Bushmaster did that on my old 14.5” barreled gun I bought years ago. Attached File Attached File |

Mil spec bolt carriers of today just work. When is the last time you heard of a carrier breaking or wearing out? Even in the rare event of bolt failure, most likely the carrier is good for 100s of thousands of cycles. You could wear out two bolts, and still reuse the carrier, I would guess. Never had a gun last that long. |

Picked mine up today from my FFL. Sure enough I'm in the "missing VFG and small rail panel" club. However it came with a total of seven of the larger rail panels. I think someone needs to lay off of the vodka at work

I didn't get any extra panels or foregrip with my 2017 SOCOM.

Hi guys, my first post on this site, and my first AR. Just wanted to say thank you for what a great resource this site has been over the past few months. I've learned a ton about ARs and about Colt, and have always wanted my first AR to be a Colt, for better or worse.
A few weeks ago I ordered a 2018 LE6920SOCOM from Davidson's to my local FFL. Took 4 days and was ready for pickup. Some more highlights:
I think that's about it. I'm going to call Colt soon to ask for additional KAC covers, but how many should I expect? I only got 3 full-length and one half-length. Thanks again. |

That sounds about right,..I bought 2 of these and they came with (3) extra long ones instead of the short cover and vertical grip..Colt sent the correct short cover and grip once I called..I think they threw the extra covers in the box when they did not have the correct parts on hand |
|
[#45]
Mine came with seven of the long rail panels. Contacted Colt and they sent me the VFG and short rail panel.
|
|
[#47]
Thanks all for the replies and the welcome. Looks like perhaps my order was correct after all. The only thing that makes me doubt that is that my short rail cover is 7 slots long, which means with the VFG and the rail cover I have no more rails, and the VFG either has to be either right next to the FSB or all the way next to the magwell. I would like the VFG to be more adjustable. I've seen other posters show their VFG with two of the 3-4 slot length covers, like this one: Page 4 of this thread
Any thoughts? |
|
[#48]
I don't know if it's recommended, but I suppose you could leave the rail panel off entirely and have much more adjustment available.

|

Just curious, how do we go about getting a thread pinned? Seems like this thread is due.

My SOCOM has slowly become my favorite. It usually comes out of the safe first when I load up to go shoot. Love it!
I want another 14.5 now! |
