Noticed that police trade in colt le6920s have hit multiple stores, some in indiana. Gold and guns (madison guns), copper customs, and recoil all had le6920s available
I got 2 this past month - one from copper customs ($999) and one from gunprime ($1099 after code ‘200’). The ones from copper were from michigan state police dept and one from gunprime was from hoover al police dept. both were in good condition, internals of the gunprime one was amazing. Both has restricted markings. Anyone have any cool le6920s/colt ARs from other police departments? Or know of stores that may have some? |

Why would you pay those prices for a beat up PD trade in when you can buy brand new ones for $899 or less in some cases?

They wouldn’t be “M4 Carbine” marked. It may make them more (or less) desirable to some. |

Exactly this. I love the restricted markings and the history behind them. Its cool that a pd owned em
Gunprime has colt canada police trade ins in stock btw |

If they are real deal LE marked lowers then that is a deal. I have no interest in CR serial numbers. |

I guess if you’re into paying for used guns for two alpha characters, I dont have anything to add |

[#9]
What size pins? Small pins on an LE marked gun and I would be very interested. Most LE marked guns from Colt seem to be big pin tho...

If you prefer the LE prefix then fine, whatever but they aren't anymore "real deal" then any other Colt lower. |

Fact is that Colt isn't making these types of lowers anymore....gone and won't come back....so that may have some value in the future. Some guys hate Colt for giving into the pressure (did they have a choice) to make those lowers with Restricted marks or the web in the rear pocket or removing the selector stops. There is no difference in quality from LE to CR.
These trade ins were sub $600 3 years ago. Id be all over them for that. But $1100 is a hard one. If I could part it out and be ahead I would be more interested in case I needed to sell. Appreciate the heads up non-the-less. |

Guaranteed to have m4 marked upper, f marked fsb, glued heat shield tabs, etc. All the things that made it actual milspec, if that matters to you. That and the qc at the time was pretty good |

Hint... they're not so Colts with those "little details" aren't any more "actual milspec" then Colts without them. All CR prefix 692x have M4 feedramps which is what actually matters. Some are and some aren't actually marked "M4". All CR prefix 692x's have "F" height FSB's which again, is what matters but no, they are no longer stamped with an "F" on them because there is no reason for it. Glued in heat shield? I guess you got me there Colt's QC is and has always been questionable. There has never been a time in recent history when buying a Colt guaranteed you anything in the QC dept. Look I'm not arguing personal preferences. We all prefer what we prefer but calling those the "real deal" as if the others are somehow fakes or lesser quality because they don't have the same markings is just a little too far north of the BS line not to call out. |

View Quote And you have the actual TDP? Not just parts of it leaked onto the internet? Pretty bold claim there Small arm solutions has a great video on this, being a former colt employer I think he knows a bit more on the topic. Does a marking make a part more milspec if it meets material and qc? No, but f marks, m4 marks etc make it easier to quickly identify the correct parts in a parts bin when you are maintaining multiple weapon systems using similar but different parts. Maybe you are just trying to justify your lesser colt to yourself, I’m cool with that |

View Quote Well said. People just can't wrap their head around the fact that production changes whether they like it or not. The M4 mark on the front of the upper receiver is going the way of the do-do bird just like the F marked front sight base. There is only one standard for the upper receivers now. There is no reason to mark them M4 just like there is only one standard for the front sight bases. Internet personalities feed the trolls with constant criticism about markings because Colt isn't staying in the 1990's/early 2000's with manufacturing. The same people that are upset about the markings not staying the same are often the same people complaining that Colt isn't being innovative. Colt starts changing and people are complaining that they aren't staying the same. Lol. It is a endless circle of complaining. |

I’m very happy with it. I don’t get the comments about paying more for a beat up PD trade in. Yeah the outside has a few dings and scratches, but not much worse then the new socom I just bought But the bcg and barrel are almost spotless, doesn’t even look like it was fired. I was pleasantly surprised with that! And I admit, I bought it since it is m4 carbine marked with le serial number, but those seem to fetch more money anyways if I ever were to sell it down the road, so it’s a wash in the end the way I see it. |

Did they have any law enforcement only marked ones left? I thought about buying from them but $1000 plus ship and tax when i dont leave in IN was a bit more than i wanted to pay

View Quote Sick rifle bro. IMO you can't "beat up" a Colt M4. LE marks are very desirable! You made a very, very good choice. I'd love to see what those fetch in the near future. LE Restricted ones are my favorites! Enjoy your sticks! |
