There are several things you want to look for when thinking about buying a R6520 or LE6520. I recently bought a brand new in box 6520, and I paid 1000 for it. you can find police trade-in or decent used ones in the 550 to 750 range. I was looking for a particular 6520 when I got mine. I was looking for a late 2004 through 2006 model. That date range guaranteed that I got the skinny Colt handguards, and a full auto bolt carrier group and no large sear block. If that's what you are looking for, you want to make sure the serial number range is above LGC 34000, and below 36000. Anything after 36000 will come with the fatter m4 handguards and the larger safety lever. Anything under 34000 will probably come with semi-auto bolt carrier groups. So you have to do your research on what you want. Remember Colt didn't make a lot of these guns. In the LGC serial number series that runs basically the late 90's to 2011, we are talking 45 to 46,000 rifles. They stop production sometime and late 2010 or 2011. Those later guns would be in the 44 through 46000 serial numbers.
Hope that helps.
