On the Super Yoter there is an adjustable stadiametric rangefinder and also a feature called Range Lines. You can set a yardage and an animal size and it will show lines centered around your reticle with how big an animal would be at that pre-defined distance. This is one way some people judge distance. Some use specific reticles with subtensions to estimate range, while others use what I call thermal shading. On most thermal scopes, when you start to see differences in the body heat of a coyote, it is inside of point of blank range. The more time behind a thermal; the better you will get at judging distance. The ranges listed on my videos are not ranged using the scope. I either pace off the shot or use my phone and mark where the shot took place and where the animal is and use tools on my phone to determine distance. Anyone having issues with their Super Yoter shutting down when wifi is enabled? Any ideas on why it might do that? Im using the external battery from nightgoggles fully charged, in weather 20 degrees down to 0 deg, with all pictures and video erased from the memory. I appreciate any suggestions! |

For the sake of full disclosure, the humidity was actually pretty high last night, ..... patches of fog in a swampy area. The distance was relatively close, maybe 30 yards but I could actually see the little front feet/leg on one. Spotted what I think was a rat foraging in the grass along a creek a week ago, distance was maybe 50+ yards. This thing is a keeper. |

Has anyone had any experience using the clip-on adapter, to adapt a SY with a rail mount, to a scope objective, i.e. as a clip-on? I have a SY with a LaRue mount---it would be useful for me to mount it on occasion to an air rifle that already has a scope on it. I don't want to remove the air rifle scope because of that particular setup and the shim angle that would be required. I've sent an inquiry to Night Goggles regarding cost/avail.----just wondering if anyone here has any practical experience doing that. Thanks |

| Bering Optics stand alone (R) thermal scopes cannot be used as clip-ons. Bering does make a Hogster C and a Super Yoter C that are clip-ons. |

The instructions for my SY say to select an advanced menu option of 3.7v when using rechargeable batteries. They also state that internal damage from overvoltage when using rechargeable batteries is not covered--sounds reasonable. Both rechargeable batteries on the Night Goggle site list an output voltage of 5v. Do I need to step down 5v to 3.7v to use an external rechargeable battery or is 1.3v overvoltage within an acceptable safe range for the SY? |

For some reason I am not able view video and stills. I can see individual clip numbers but unable to view or save any of them. I keep getting a message in the video player to "try again later". I've got the SY connected to a laptop via USB with VIDEO in the Advanced Menu switched ON, full batteries. I should be able to play or view a still by clicking on the file, correct? Not seeing a right click and save option and the "move to" at the top of the interface goes nowhere. Got to be something simple, just not seeing what it is. Any ideas appreciated. |

Yes, that was it. User error with the owners manual again! With VIDEO not switched to ON, it reads just like any external drive. Thank you for your time Korey.....and especially your patience! As an aside, I am finding the Black Hot mode can sometimes help identify targets better that White Hot. Case in point was a blob I spotted in the woods last week. Could not tell it was a rabbit until I switched to Black. Not finding much use for the other modes but White and Black so far seem to each have their benefits, definitely. | Agree with using different backgrounds for different things. There are times due to atmospheric conditions one background may work better. For instance, I don't often use Red-Hot, but on really foggy nights, it can be useful sometimes. White hot typically is easier to pick up heat signatures. Use what works best for you. Glad you are liking the SY. |
