When the fur is good, they get used for their fur. I have a fur buyer who skins, fleshes, sews, and then sells them or has them tanned for making fur items. When the fur isn't good, it depends on the land owner. Some want them taken off their property and some don't care.

When I was testing the prototype, I reported some comments about Black-Hot to Bering. On the released version, to me there was a fairly significant impact to black-hot. I would say the two biggest changes to black-hot would be the words you described as clarity and detail. I felt the prototype had a  lot of artifacts on the screen. This lead to a lack of clarity. I also feel the White-Hot mode is a little cleaner as well. In addition,  I am able to make out more details in black-hot mode than before, but I will admit I am a white-hot mode hunter. On this night where I took the videos, I never tried black-hot. My comments are just from looking around my neighborhood. I have some family obligations that will keep me from hunting for the next week or so, but the next time I go out, I will plan to use black-hot and record some footage.

The pre-orders (actually all orders) are shipped in the order they were received. Some of the earliest people who pre-ordered have already received their Super Yoters. Bering has been sending partial fulfillments on POs so every person is not waiting until the entire order is complete. You can contact Night Goggles sales at 909-312-5424 to get a better estimate on when your specific order is estimated to arrive.

In an attempt to shorten wait times, Night Goggles continues to order more product well in advance of when orders are taken.

The Super Yoter-R produces a noticeably crisper image than my 60mm Mk3. If I could only keep one, I'd sell the Trijicon.... easy decision.
I expected the Yoter-R's performance to be similar to that of my Phenom scanner (12um version) which would have made me a happy buyer but surprisingly, the Yoter-R looks even better. I could not be more pleased & impressed w/ the Yoter-R.

You are comparing the Yoters' image to a thermal that costs 2x the price and is known as one of the best images in the commercial thermal industry. That is saying something by saying the Yoter has a crisper image. The higher the humidity, the more you will like the Super Yoter in comparison.

It is no secret the iRay Rico and Super Yoter share the same iRay 640 sensor. However, one of the knocks on this sensor was the black-hot mode isn't very good. In the Super Yoter prototype I tested, the white hot was amazing, but the black hot was OK. It kind of confirmed what I had heard from others on the Rico. I reported this to Bering along with my other test results. When my production version arrived, I was very surprised at the amount of improvement in the black hot mode. This video was recorded around 85% humidity, and the 2nd coyote stand I changed to black hot and recorded a kill.

Bering was very smart to spec a higher resolution OLED screen on the Yoter-R. The Trijicon is a pixel to pixel core/screen match as I understand it, so a 640 res LED screen. The OLED 1024 res screen on the Yoter-R is what is making the difference & it's a big one. What really blows my mind is I have more tied up in my 60mm Mk3 (started life as a 35mm MK2 in 2015 & over the years I upgraded to a 35mm MK3 & then to the 60mm) than I have invested in my Phenom scanner & the Super Yoter-R combined.
Admittedly I have spent very little time using black hot on the Yoter-R as I'm more of a white hot user so if there is a deficiency there, I haven't noticed it yet.
My only criticism - I just wish Bering had integrated audio recording into the Yoter-R.

I know Bering is looking into options, so hopefully something is available in the future. I do a lot of editing so I probably won't use it much either way, but I know many people want audio as part of their recordings. One option that can be used now is to use the infirayOutdoors app. I have done quite a few video recording tests and the video quality via the app and via internal recording is virtually identical. There is a microphone option in the infirayOutdoors app. You will be pulling audio from your device, and recording the wireless video stream from the scope. It works, but four negatives. You are using more battery as your wireless is on, you have to have your phone or device along, you have to hit record on your device vs on the scope, and in my testing the audio was just a little behind the video so it wasn't perfectly in synch. I realize it isn't perfect, but at least it is something.

Any chance you would be willing to get more side by side photos or videos on the Super Hogster and Super Yoter in addition to those you’ve posted in miscellaneous forums? Debating on making the switch but curious what the difference looks like with various animals at various distances. Thank you!

I would but I sold the Super Hogster 2 days after receiving the Super Yoter Prototype. My hunting partner may be using a Super Hogster this hunting season, and then I will have more side by side footage. I do receive scopes to test like the Super Yoter, but after I am done testing, every video you see are thermals I buy personally, so I typically sell one to help purchase another. A lot of people keep an older model for a backup in case one fails, but Bering Optics thermals have yet to ever let me down even in temps down to -30F, so I don't need a backup scope or scanner.

Well looks like I may have my Yoter sometime late next week or early the week after.  FedEx stopped providing tracking updates on it, was unable to tell me where it was for a week over the course of 5 phone calls to them, then decided to return it to NG because it sat too long and wasn't picked up.  So back to NG it goes so it can be sent back to me via a different carrier

Huge thanks to Carina at NG for trying to get this straightened out.  FedEx can eat a bag of dicks.

If you call Bering, they will recommend the TRB from TVNC/Night Goggles. It is what they use when demoing at trade shows, testing, etc. This should tell you a lot. There is also an ARFcom discount for those interested. Since non-members read the forums, I will not post this on the site.  Send me a PM if interested.

The Hogsters and Yoters are compatible with 3.7V CR123 style rechargeables. However, Bering does not recommend their use. The reason is a lack of consistency and quality in these rechargeables. Lots of cheap batteries and chargers that overcharge batteries. Add recoil to the mix and it can be a recipe for some bad things. If the batteries leak or start on fire on the inside of a thermal, the result would not be good. Bering's warranty at this time says the warranty does not apply if damage to the thermal is caused by internal rechargeable batteries. So, it can handle it, but Bering doesn't recommend them.

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely stick with powerbanks and quality non-rechargables then.

And for anyone considering the Yoter, the videos and pictures online don't even come close to doing it justice.

Just some quick pics from suburbia but hopefully will actually get out with it tonight.

Got the Yoter mounted and rough zeroed yesterday.  Initial feedback on it is very positive.  Weight and form factor are great, picture is amazing.  The Larue mount is great as always with them even though they are not my go to.

The buttons and menus are very well laid out and easy to use/navigate.  They are going to take a lot of getting used to for me personally, huge change from the joystick control on the REAP.  Good selection of color pallets, easy to get a good picture in different conditions.  I'm blown away with hot good the white hot is.  I typically only used it just after dark with my REAP, then switched to black hot.  Looking like it will be the go to with the Yoter.

Getting it zeroed was quick and easy.  Menus were easier to navigate than the REAP.  Freeze function is very handy but in my opinion you need a good rest to make use of it.  Wound up not using it with just a bipod and rear bag.

Wifi and connecting to the app is quick and easy.  Works well.  Only complaint is the Wi-Fi needs turned on each time you turn the scope on, but this will help prolong battery life when only turning it on when wanted.

My biggest complaint is the ocular lens.  Focusing it so the center is focused leaves the edges fuzzy.  Not a huge deal and don't really notice it but the PVS-14 ocular on the REAP has an advantage here.

My only other minor complaint is the direction the rubber cover over the USB-C port flips up in.  It flips forward leaving it in the way of cable routing when running an external pack.  If the rubber flipped to the rear it would be out of the way.  Not a huge deal.

I would like to see this take larger rechargeables instead of two CR123s.  With how I hunt cables and externals get in the way and get caught.  Having the scope powered by two 18650s would be a huge benefit.  Will see if I can get my Apex 3D pack mounted and the cable routed where I can keep them out of the way.  Going to try some Arson Machine wire guides.

Overall I'm very happy with the Yoter.  Incredible picture and a great value.  Was really torn on this and worried I was going to be disappointed with it compared to my 35mm REAP.  Turned out to definitely not be the case and the REAP is now for sale .  Huge thanks to Korey for talking to me about the Yoter before purchase and Carina at NG for handling the purchase.  Definitely a happy customer!

Great to hear your initial impressions. As for the cable management piece, I find the Larue Index Clips a great help with that. Amazon also carries them. They are cheaper at LaRue, but with shipping can be more expensive if not buying something else. In the pack, there are some clips that can be used for running cables. The eyepeice was a choice Bering made to get a higher base magnification to satisfy their target market. I don't notice it anymore after using it for awhile.

As for 18650's they won't fit as they are slightly wider than CR123s. I am testing an option that I hope to be able to talk about in a few months that may help with a similar battery style as 18650s for those that don't want to run a battery pack. Enjoy this great thermal.

Idiot neewb question here:
What exactly is NUCing?
From what I can tell so far, it appears to be some kind of automatic refresh function for the sensor but I am not finding any definition or explanation of it.
Tried searching it and the owners manual isn't revealing anything.
Can anybody explain what this is?
Thanks,

Thank you for including a link. I have sent people to this same information before. In the Bering manuals, they call it Image Calibration. There are some thermals such as Trijicon that require the user to cover the lens and perform a manual NUC. With Bering thermals, you can do a shuttered NUC which can happen automatically or manually as well as there is a Full/Background NUC where you close the end cap and NUC the scope. On a Super Yoter for instance, you can manually do a quick/shuttered NUC of the scope by a quick press of the two buttons closest to you. If you hold both buttons down for an extended period, an image pops up showing you should close the end cap. You keep pressing those two buttons (with endcap closed) and it does a full/background NUC. This longer NUC can be necessary to fix more substantial image issues.

@KoreyKirsch

Any idea what the subtensions are on the FFP reticles?  I cannot find it anywhere in the manual or online.  Thanks!

I have them for the super Hogster , but not the super Yoter. I spoke with Bering roughly a week ago and they said I should have something in the next few weeks. As soon as I see it, I will put it on the Night Goggles website and provide a link.
