I recently assembled the discontinued BRN-180 folding stock with a BRN-180M that I got back from NFA engraving. I have one question and one concern.
Question is how tight do I tighten the two screws on the picatinny mount down to the receiver. They seem thin enough that I could strip them or even snap them?
Assemble the set up looks nice, but when I went to charge the action, it's a dedicated. 22 conversion, the charging handle struck the front of the stocks picatinny mount. I loosened up the mount and made sure the stock was sitting as low as it could. After doing this, there still is enough of the mount protruding above the reciever that the charging handle hits it. If I lift on the handle as I charge it, then it doesn't hit, but I dislike having to think about how I'm grabbing the handle every time I charge it. Is this normal?
Edit- I broke out the calipers. The top of the reciever is .027" lower then the top of the picatinny stock mount. I did some Jimmy Rigging and found a fridge magnet .022" thick. I have cut it a glued it to the top of the reciever like a shim. Now the charging handle clears the mount every time.
