Here's some pictures comparing older (not really old) to newer DDC anodizing. The newer stuff is a lot different in color and texture. Something must have changed in the anodizing, intentional or not.
Most of these parts are 2019 and 2020 if I had to guess. The 16" dark receiver is from an old Super Duty with the A2 grip and 3 prong. The 9.3" MK16 is the oldest of the rails and the 10.5" MK16 is the newest of the rails (and the "worst" looking). The charging handles are the newest parts from 2021. I used to own older MK8s and MK14(?)s that were more of a golden color but I sold them when the MK16 came out.
Attached FileYes, the color is different on everything and I don't mind that. Everything has a pretty good surface finish. The only parts that don't have an even finish are the upper receivers where it transitions from the forged to machined part.
Here's the comparison to a couple of my late 2021 or early 2022 receivers I got recently. You can see that the color is entirely different but also the finish isn't nice. They are rough, chalky, with uneven color throughout. These were not blems. I really want anodized DDC parts and I understand that the color will vary, but I feel like I'm getting a lower quality finish than what I used to get. This is similar to what @Molon was posting about and got crapped on for.
Attached File Attached FileSo, have you changed up the anodizing or anything else that would effect the anodizing?
