Looks cheesy compared to the original "Combat Unit" models. Hate the rail without the sling mounts and why do they never line up the top rail?

I bought 2 Colts with those rails. Even when lined up with the top rail the front BUIS was clocked. I know this because I built a special one off tool to measure this.
On this model CR6960, they used the old style rail and mil spec M4 buttstock so its different from the original CCU which was built as a special run for a specific gun store.
So Colt had to change it some. My guess is they had a bunch of the older rails laying around because Colt is also selling the Trooper R again which uses the same old style rail. It might be worth buying still to get the mid length barrel.
I would not buy any of those rails if straight front sights is important to you without a lot or maxing out of the rear sight windage, if your only going to run an optic, then it doesnt matter at all and Colt just did a poor job lining it up. At least thats easy to fix.
Also those rails dont meet picatinny spec. But thats another story..............
I would still buy this gun for the barrel and work out the issues (which you shouldn't have too)
