May be worth it to pay the extra $25 plus tax on gb for the extra nice ones if youre gonna pony up $1500 for the rifle anyways (no pun intended)

Man if I wasn't already in the hole 3k for some Colt prototype stuff, I would buy another 6940P.

Was there ever a 6940P upper in a 10.3" or 11.5" barrel?

Having said that, I have never seen a 14.5" 6940P upper receiver in person or on the secondary market. The select fire 14.5" piston was the P0923. The 16.1" semi-only piston was the LE6940P. The 16.1" select-fire was P0977 14.5 inch- 2010 Attached File 16.1 inch- 2011 Attached File 16.1 inch and 14.5 inch- 2012 Attached File |

I picked one up as an impulse purchase and was pleasantly surprised the barrel is the SOCOM profile. I kinda like it. I had a department issued 6945 briefly so I knew I already liked the monolithic rail.
It doesn’t appear to have been fired much and there aren’t too many dings. There is a laser engraved rack number on the trigger guard. No other department marks. I will say it was probably the filthiest firearm I have ever seen and I was a department armorer for 20 years. Whichever agency owned these did not clean off the preservative oil before it was used. It took me hours to clean it off because it was basically like lacquer. Overall I know I should have paid less (the prices dropped the day after I bought mine), but I like it. |

As a side note, I spoke with a gentleman recently who said his organization traded in about 200 6940P's within the last year to a distributor. So, the recent influx of so many 6940P's appearing on Gun Broker could be related to that turn-in. |

I didn’t know about the barrel profile prior to purchasing it. Thanks for the info.
I kinda thought about getting two so I had a source for spare parts but I had spent enough. |

I really appreciate the knowledge I get from this website. I’m always looking to learn and improve my knowledge.

It's getting temping now that price is dropping on those 6940P's

Yep $1075 on gunbroker ones. The prices have tanked on these

I've been watching the the P's online and they don't seem to be selling at $1200. They're used rifles and the "piston AR craze" is about has hot as the "40SW craze" which is to say "cold".
I'd like to have a P just because, but wouldn't pay more than $1k for a minty used gun. |

What do you all think about having one of these cut down, maybe to 11.5?

Picked mine up today! Like it enough that I just ordered another one.

Tell me about the proprietary parts which wear out on these, and where I can obtain replacements.

Just to add to this, I don’t know what happened or why but, there was a member on here that did indeed have a paperweight due to needing piston rings that were unobtainable and if I remember correctly, direct contact with Colt was no help. |

I picked up my 6940P today and noticed it has a H2 buffer, is that normal?
