Finally got shipping notification on my 22" 6.5CM UU Today, good thing I called in today to add the magazines to the order! I didn't even bother asking for when they thought they would be shipping either as ignorance is bliss sometimes so I'm not counting down the days.

My 22in 6.5 shipped today! Can’t wait to put it together. I’m thinking I will put my .260 barrel with PST on it instead of the 6.5.

Interested to see if they can handle 140 grain pills, something the 260 doesn’t seem to like. |

I'm a first time LaRue customer who is disappointed by what I received in my 22" BLACK UU kit today. Is the discoloration normal for a factory fresh finish? All I read about from gun mags and published reviewer was about how beautiful and special the LaRue finish and surface is supposed to be. My kit looks like it didn't get a final coat of something..... I've never had to CLP a brand new upper receiver to get the color to deepen from gray to black . Also where is the barrel nut? I got an extra hammer spring but not barrel nut. Lastly the black finish on the handguard is extremely thin - scuffs easily . HELP!!!! https://i.imgur.com/FLkRKkk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lO7xX5z.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FITGAtD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2LfU3uR.jpg If somebody can repost the pictures into the thread so you don't have to click on the links to see them I'd appreciate it. Have you removed the HG? On the small frame UU’s the barrel nut is threaded onto the upper receiver.
+1 on the oil. |

There is no barrel nut I'll contact them Monday What's the deal with having to oil the surface , I've owned dozens of semis and never seen a finish need oil, the handguard didn't but the upper did. |

Every upper and lower I've gotten from LaRue needed oil to get rid of the almost chalky surface. Especially the black. Here's my RO pistol in 300BO from the BuildAR, lots of oil on it. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/201214/IMG_6330_JPG-277704.jpg View Quote |

My 6.5G kit needed a pretty healthy coat of oil inside and out to match the appearance and smoothness of my tOBR. But after the oil and about a 100 pulls of the charging handle it feels the same.

$1500 UU complete kit vs. $3200 factory assembled rifle. With all the coin ML saved you, you can afford to buy a bottle of your favorite lube and put a little love into the finish yourself. View Quote I didn't say I expect it to be as smooth functioning, accurate, or include the same components (adjustable gas block, engravings, etc) as the full priced rifle. I've got oil to spare I just hope it treats the surface well enough to stick and not have to reapply going forward as it becomes subjected to field use. And lastly 1500 bucks is nothing to sneeze at either - I can full cerakote my other AR10s for less than the cost of this upper alone. |

Hope these pics work... https://i.imgur.com/Z5HxqF7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Svv9ur5.jpg Shot from crappy rest across the front of a shaky JD Gator w/15 mph crosswind. I’d say it handles the 140 class bullets pretty well. View Quote |

I plan on putting a SLR adjustible block on when it gets here. Good to see it shoots well with 140-147... now time to chrony and start cooking up loads. View Quote |
