Wife beat me to buying a pair of Bonnel pants in Tornado, because she's an amazing woman.
Comparing to my Deadbird A2B in the same size (34/32)
Fit:
They fit looser in the quads and butt. I have a 100cm quad, and 106/109 waist/hips, as measured over the navel and at the widest point. I had plenty of room all around. No tightness in the quads or seat, and good mobility in the bottom, was able to drop into a full squat without binding in the bottom or on the way down.
Material:
They are both lighter and stretchier than the deadbirds, and feel a little more casual than the A2B. I wear the A2B to work in IT, since they are very comfortable but still look professional...giving me good mobility if I ever have to run a cable or crawl somewhere to power cycle something. These will be great in the summer but I suspect be a hair chilly in the winter.
Branding:
Subtle on both. A single magpul logo on the rearmost beltloop and the word "magpul" on the button. They dont' scream mall ninja or tactical tommy, which is nice. Be a great hiking pant, which I guess is the purpose.
Pockets: I have a vanilla Nexus 6. It's a big ass phone, probably as big as they come without qualifying as a tablet. Both the rear zippered pocket and the "hidden" front pocket swallowed it up and could be zipped, although just barely. However, the A2B's have this goofy fucking flap that always gets in the way that I still can't figure out wtf it's for... Bonnels don't, so they're better, end of discussion. The "side zipper" pocket on the leg I didn't even notice at first, so I didn't check.
In all, I am very pleased. Time will tell how long they last, and whether I set off the millimeter scanner at the airport like my deadbirds do. (very annoying, since I like to travel in these kinds of pants.) They are made in India, which is fine, although I'd obviously prefer the US that would probably double the price and it's neither better nor worse than the Indonesian origin of the deadbirds.
To my weightlifting friends: Try them. I have a lot of trouble finding pants that fit in my quads and butt, and I thought my deadbirds were gonna be the end of the story, but these actually have room for additional gainz, and offer great mobility. If you don't like them and they're in 34/32, I'll buy 'em from you, although Magpul will take a return within 60 days.
In all, impressions are favorable. I'll probably be buying 2-3 more pair in an attempt to have a pair for every workday during the summer, and keep my Vert-x Casuals for the winter. I do wish they were a little cheaper. 50 dollars and I'd go ahead and buy all 3 now...at 80, I'll have to plan those purchases.
