LOL Im not knocking them as BCM, but that it left there like that. Its all good either way.

You keep stating that "it should not have left there like that". Have you not read the post above? It most likely did not leave their shop in that condition. You have no proof that it was not damaged in shipping. Repackers use new boxes as stated above.
I'm not calling you names but the verbiage you are using and the lack of respect is making you out to be very childish. Who cares about inflating your post count. Look at how long I have been here. I only post when I want. Does my post count make me unintelligent? I think not! Paul has already contacted you on a Sunday! How many other companies would do that? Let the man make it right and show him the respect he deserves. Btw, I do not own any of BCMs products but I have seen their customer service at work on this board and with friends. I hope you understand the points I'm making. If not so be it! |

Wow I'm so sorry that I followed the "moved" link to this thread. It's just full of the OP––>
*No I'm not a BCM fanboy. I was in a similar position to the OP recently. I had an issue with a Spikes lower, asked in the industry section if anyone else had the issue, declined Tom's generous offer to replace it despite not buying it from him, and I didn't whine about it one bit. |

Replied to email from office earlier today.
At home now, so not exactly sure of wording in email, but basically: By looking at the pic only the receiver looks very normal. Tooling marks will absolutely be on a USGI AR platform receiver. Welcome to AR15 ownership. I reserve the right to modify my opinion when I see it in person. By looking at the rails, the nick to bare metal is excessive. Beyond that, the pics do not show my (through my monitor) any exessive cosmetic issues on the rail. I reserve the right to modify my opinion when I see it in person. When we get your order number via email we will be sending you a UPS return tag to bring the upper back to our shop to swap the rail at a minimum. Now that I am looking at this thread ––- Actually the marks on the receiver look like from when we mount the carry handle for laser bore sighting the irons. From the Bravo website: As a note: BCM® barrel components are parkerized separately before assembly. Prior to shipping, all BCM™ upper receiver groups are test fired for function, laser bore sighted with a Milspec carry handle for sight alignment within Mil-Specs, and then batch samples are test fired for accuracy. As such, the upper receiver group will show handling marks consistent with these quality control procedures. Welcome to the world of BCM ownership. By the comments in this thread you may have bought BCM for all the wrong reasons. Folks talk about the quality of a BCM not because of what they see when they take it out of the box, but the quality they see after 1000s of round down range. We build ugly guns. However the gash on the rail is not acceptable. With the upper group being brand new, you are always welcome to a full refund. Thanks! |

There you go. I hope the OP returns it for a full refund, and let the rest of us get more BCM stuff.

Something I learned a long time ago as a boot & it still applies in life in general...you give an AC in private & give praise in public. |

I emailed you back and I'll just send it out. After hearing all the fanboys bicker and so on, I see it from both sides of the story. Its hard for people to admit they are wrong, and well I'm admitting. But I do know for a fact that the box is in PERFECT shape and was NOT repackaged. So that much can at least die down. I attached a pictures of the box and you can clearly see that the box was not replaced lol. Unless ups has spare BCM boxes around. and the tape is NOT over layered. http://i35.tinypic.com/2jamdxi.jpg http://i33.tinypic.com/20uzer6.jpg It is not about being fanboys. It is about bitching on the internet before you give a company a chance to fix it. If they told you to go stuff it then I would be right there with you. But you did not give the company a chance to fix it. IMO it looks like it should have never left the factory that way. Shit happens they have humans who work there and they are not perfect, mistakes happen. Bravo Makes a great "combat" weapon it made to be reliable and last a long time, not ment to win any beauty contest. As many had said BCM will take care of the issue and it has already been shown that they will. |

Its not just about "fit and finish", but yes there are many others out there that can perform as well as they look. One shouldn't have to choose between the two. I spoke about the QC experience at GE energy, not GE appliances. I'm not sure what QC standards they are held to but you should most definately give them a chance to correct the problem rather than complain on here. $3k on a GE fridge? But then again I guess as long as it works who cares if its ugly.

It's been taken care of......over 2 years ago. I didn't come on here to complain when it happened or anywhere else for that matter. I don't make a habbit of compalining on the internet. I know how to dial a phone or send an email. I simply brought it up because you mentioned GE and it's ISO standards. |

What is it about people complaining on the 'net before talking to the manufacturer? I don't get that. If AFTER you talked the manufacturer and your issue was not resolved THEN I can understand the post.
I PERSONALLY had an issue with a BCM upper (not cosmetic by the way) wherein I contacted BCM off the bat. Issue was taken care of, no sweat. I would have felt like a lame ass posting first then talking to BCM. But, hey, everyone is different. ETA: I have directed a lot of people in my circle that are getting into the AR scene to BCM because you can not beat the quality at the price point they sell their stuff for. To this date, I have not seen anything majorly wrong with their "fit and finish." And when we have received something "a little off" I just tell my friends that the rifle isn't meant to be looked but, rather, used. However, if it was majorly f'ed up, I would send it back. |

I am reminded of the service policy of a shop that specializes in very high end ($3000-4000+) 1911/BHP work...
It goes something like this... "If you have a problem with one of my products, come to me first. I will do everything in my power to make you happy. If you're not satisfied after you give me one chance to fix the problem, complain about me on the internet all you want. But if you don't give me a chance to fix my mistake before complaining on the internet, you're on your own." I think that's a badass customer service policy. And yet, it's not Bravo's service policy. OP, it doesn't matter what company we're talking about, or who the fans are. I'd be a little annoyed if someone started bashing a company I personally dislike before giving them a chance to fix their mistake - especially if they refused to consider allowing the company to fix it, like you did (I might make an exception for a parts breakage that could leave other users of the same item in danger - but I'd expect a call to the company at the same time as the bulletin to other users). I'm amazed that Bravo's initial response wasn't composed entirely of a refund and request to take your business elsewhere - but then again, that's what makes BCM the company that it has become. It is reasonable to be upset about the one ding on the rail, and it's reasonable to expect the company to fix it. It is not reasonable to say you're "not willing to go through all of that" in reference to sending the upper back. Just going by your childish responses in this thread, I'm guessing that you're under 25, and I'm tired of people like you giving people my age a bad name. |

I can't believe I just read four pages on this issue.
A call to the manufacturer should did get this handled without too much drama. A dinged up part can and will slip by anyone frome time to time, but its how they take care of the issue that matters. I believe Bravo Company already said they will take care of this, just like many of the other top shelf companies that deserve your business. It aint gonna be the first or last time a dinged up part goes out to a customer. Go out and shoot a rifle today |
|
Here's the key. Most people would call up ABC company and tell them they had an issue and ask for help.
Troll's write crap on the bathroom walls instead of taking it up with the company. Case closed! |
|
Got the upper back and inspected it.
Out of the 6 things circled in the photos, 5 of the things you have circled are normal on an AR15. The nick was caused by the front sling swivel pivioting to the rear and hitting the pic rail (with force). There is a scuff in the rubber mold over the sling swivel that also lines up with the nick in the rail. The rail will be swapped this week. It is our policy that whenever a customer service issue becomes an internet issue, I personally need to inspect the product before it is shipped out. As I would be the one doing comms on the net and would want direct experience with the product in question. I am leaving for an EAG class now and will be back over the weekend. The soonest this upper could ship would be next week. Please let us know if you would like this upper group or would like a refund? You may be happier with a refund. Please keep in mind that 5 of the 6 issues that made you upset can not be addressed in the manor you would like. (as a note, perhaps a billet upper or other type of non-USGI premium upper may work well for your application - and maybe purchase a rail system at a gunshow where you can hand pic rail.) Thanks, Paul |

There are so many companies out there, and many turn out quality products. So, for me, I am the type of person that sees a mistake not as something to crucify a company over, I see it as a chance to see how they handle issues, and how good their customer service is.
Some companies fail that test, and I find someone else to purchase from. Some companies exceed my expectations, and earn my business for life. I've told the story before, but I also at one point received a BCM upper that had a small issue with the feed ramp. This was when the supply was very short, and the uppers were very difficult to get. Probably wouldn't have affected function, but it might have. Contacted Paul late on a Sunday, and heard back in only a few minutes. Had a replacement upper (and a few goodies) within a few days. Paul stood behind his product. I don't have much of a budget for purchasing new rifles right now, but anytime I am purchasing an AR-15 pattern rifle, or a new upper, a stock, or any other accessory, Bravo will be the first place I look. |
