Commando heavy profile or FBI HRT? Webpage says one, thread title another? What barrel OD in the handguards area? All HRT barrels to date have had this profile: https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/416992/hVQxB5H-906563.jpg What's the story on these? View Quote |

What’s the difference between a commando heavy barrel and a hrt? G&r also has the fsps labeled as heavy barrel, then in the description it’s labeled as hrt heavy barrel

We used an online stock photo, we are taking a correct photo.
It is the heavy barrel profile used by FBI HRT |

You guessed wrong, we have updated the photo
These are the real deal and we are the only Colt dealer who has them |

There are no other dealers who have received factory sealed FBI HRT barrels, like many exclusive items we receive from Colt, the ones we have are the exact ones FBI uses on their rifles.
I am aware there are other dealers who advertise stripped barrels, but that is not how the FBI receives their barrels. These completed barrels are the ones that they use, and they come fully assembled in a sealed blue bag from Colt, just as they come from us. When in doubt with Colt, go by the part number |

I had never heard of them, but saw an earlier thread that said they were using Green Mountain barrels, and seemed to be an LE company with a good reputation. Anyway, bravo, @armsunlimited , looks like a fun barrel. |

Just got mine today ( I think it took only 3 days after shipped) and I couldn't be happier, as it is exactly what I wanted.. Thanks AU for the killer deal !
|
|
Enjoy them guys! They are priced to move so get them while they last, they aren't made very often and usually all sucked up by government orders.

@ArmsUnlimited I REALLY wish you would have posted the correct picture BEFORE I placed my order. I think we mostly assume WYSIWYG these days on website UNLESS its posted "ref pic only - may differ from actual product" etc.
This is a cool barrel for sure and you have the market on this particular config which is cool but what I really wanted was the barrel first pictured. Whatever it was "Commando" on not, that medium profile barrel was what I wanted; something between the gov and SOCOM/HBAR profile. I'm not going full-auto and don't need or want the extra weight. E-mail inbound... |
|
Ya, just email us. Customer service will have you sent it back and we'll give you a refund.
|
|
Any place to get the originally pictured barrel for the advertised price? I believe it's called a medium profile? That's something I'm interested in.
@armsunlimited |
|
assume they are chrome lined but don't see any markings on barrel or mentioned in listing

Quoted: How many different profiles did colt do in the 11.5” barrel? View Quote |

Quoted: I know of three: (1) the "original" profile Commando barrel found on RO733s and RO933s (and LE6933s), which is basically a lightweight A1 profile, (2) the recent production Commando barrels found on LE6943s and recent production LE6933s which has a 0.750" gas block journal but is lightweight under the hand guards and forward to the muzzle, and (3) the FBI profile which is basically an 11.5" SOCOM profile barrel. View Quote This one appears to be a "midweight", larger OD than govt./smaller than SOCOM/FBI. Eta: Similar to the Expanse barrels, a one off profile. Not govt./not HBAR. |

Maybe. I can't remember the original picture exactly, but it did look similar to the Sionics (medium contour) barrel. https://i.imgur.com/dS4bg9ml.jpg While I'm happy with the Colt FBI barrel, the Sionics is what I originally wanted, but it wasn't available with the FSB. I never saw the original pic AU posted, and don't have any reason to believe it was an actual Colt barrel based on what I've read (it sounds like it was a commercial barrel from Sionics?). https://i.imgur.com/dS4bg9ml.jpg While I'm happy with the Colt FBI barrel, the Sionics is what I originally wanted, but it wasn't available with the FSB. That's a pretty cool barrel, I like the contour, reminds me of the Noveske CHF barrels, heavier under the hand guards but a little lighter out front, kind of a reverse A2 contour. I wish Sionics would reply to my RFI concerning gas port size... View Quote 50/50? Or unsuppressed? |

50/50.
After a being assured by Stag one of their M4 barrels was properly gassed (but they refused to give me the port size) and then getting a barrel with a grossly over sized port, I'm wary anymore. |
|
They dont publish port sizes but the reduced is .066", regular is .070" , extreme reduced is. 064" , all for 11.5" barrel.
Direct from Sionics. |

The original photo was posted by mistake by our web guy. He did a google search of 11.5 barrel low profile gas block and used the photo that looked closest to what we had instead of simply taking new photos. It was only up for a few days and was corrected.
The barrels we are selling are contract over runs and they are not offered to commercial distributors |

What are the choices in 10.75” to 11” rails that will allow clearance for a suppressor?
The 10” G rail is too short for my liking. |

Quoted: Not at all. In fact the Colt is much smaller in profile where it counts. Just wanted to make as this close to an FBI upper. View Quote On another note....if these barrels offered by Arms Unlimited are actual FBI issued/built/overrun (as implied) barrels as stated above "...the ones we have are the exact ones FBI uses on their rifles. I am aware there are other dealers who advertise stripped barrels, but that is not how the FBI receives their barrels. These completed barrels are the ones that they use..." ...then why the gas block? Does Colt ship them to the FBI with this gas block just to have them swapped out at the FBI armory? Doesn't make sense to me but it is government spending. ............has this been addressed already? Or am I thinking to much into it? |
