For those who carry in IL, what other states have you obtained a CCL and why? looking to gain as much US coverage as possible as I start the non-resident CCL journey.

I got Florida, Utah, and Pennsylvania years before IL was even an option. Pennsylvania had a sheriff who would issue for a very low fee by mail. I'm sure it's still Florida and Utah to have the most coverage. If you only want to go through the effort and expense for one, decide which state you would visit more as Florida and Utah have reciprocity but not for non residents (last I checked).

I got Utah before IL had one. Just renewed it. Had to watch ~10 minute video on gun safety and suicide, fill out a questionnaire, pay 30.52, and had my new license in about a week. Good for five years.

Whereas here in IL I pay 30/yr for the 'privilege'

PA you have to go in person. Democrap atty general there changed it a few years back. I went to Erie, PA. Walked out with it. Let it lapse because I couldn’t get back to renew in person. They only do non residents a few days a week. You may need an appt from what I saw on renewal form.
