Picked 23
16 is a UGA home game Also going to see Foxworthy at the Fox that night. Any of y’all familiar with a WWII German G43? I’ve inherited one from my dad who got it from one of his uncles. It’s been a wall hanger as long as I can remember. All it’s missing is the cleaning rod and front sight hood. I would prefer some hands on learning about it. |

I had a bcd code G43. Sold recently.
bcd code= Gustloff manufacture which was done at Buchenwald. A rare code, but not surprising to learn that at concentration camps quality is not "Job One". Prisoners routinely tried to sabotage production. My rifle had a habit of ejecting the extractor every so often. ac codes and duv codes hold together pretty well. Decent accuracy, probably not as good as Garand, awful trigger in my opinion. Long and hard to tell when it will break. As Southern Cross said, very collectable. I have a spring set and a spare extractor group which you are welcome to if you want. Also have a copy of "Hitler's Garand" which is kind of the reference bible for G43. Out of print so I can't part with it, but you can browse and phone pic copy anything of interest. |

Also I recall it was a Walter manufactured rifle. it function checks but has never been cleaned or shot in all the time I’ve known of the rifle. |

Would love to come and bring several belt feds but no way I'm gonna be able to leave the kids with the wife all day.

I wanna come down, but I’m getting a new pup a couple weeks prior, so I’ll be pretty slammed with balancing work and trying to get him set. Dunno yet.

[#16]
Yeah I wish, she has no desire to do anything like that. Plus with her and the kids in the car there's no room for the belt feds

Well imma definite maybe.
Depends on how well I get around after…I want to be the smart ass but that hits to close to the issue at hand so to speak. I go to the doc the Friday before for a Prostate Biopsy. My PSA numbers have been pretty much the same except for the past year. They’re not high but the change is what they’re saying is their concern. So yeah to getting old and the issues that go with it. |

Trying to free up work schedule. Thanks |

Closed the wire/cable gate once you are through the gate. Watch out for Rosey the horse. She thinks she’s bullet proof and will try to prove it by running down range. Someone will be along to give directions…it’s off Seven Islands Road near SR/129 south of I20 |

Is the the equivalent of the 2gun ran ~ a month ago? The one where the new guy won out and took home the trophy? If so I will tell him and make sure he shows with it.

Someone has to take the lead on it for Nov I guess..... This month is kinda shot with the WW2 Shoot this weekend and Halloween the next.
Nov. is looking suspect already given the MOA shoot and Turkey Day. |

Probably a good time to say I'm gonna be sparse from now until early December because of work. Y'all @ me if I need to pin anything or whatever. I'll be looking in regularly though, just won't be anywhere in person.

On a thread related note.....what time is everyone planning on getting in on Saturday?
Might need to take a run to N. Augusta before I head over. |

FYI: while I haven't been down to the range in a while, I know it's been even longer since it has been mowed (other than what Rosie has been able to accomplish). If any of y'all care to bring some sort of implement/s of destruction, that are more geared towards vegetation, it might make the range a more hospitable destination...... Just sayin'.......

Can't make it this weekend. Every weekend in October is done. My teenage daughter is taking a ham cram course this weekend to get her Amateur Radio technician's license.
November should be better for us. I might be wide ass open after December 8th. |

GA HTF WWII Shoot A lot of you missed some cool stuff. Special thanks to tok762 for making it incredible. |

It was good to drag out the olde musty muskets and let them see the light of day. I counted 21 different cartridge types I brought to feed the beasts, not including 5.56 or 7.62 (too modern).
Forgot how long and heavy some of the WW2 vintage rifles were, and how loud. Pre suppressor era. This would make a fun annual event, check the closet/basement and bring your rarely used junk to the range for a day. |
