I am working about an hour east of OKC. When it rains we can't work and are shut down for a day or two after the rain until the mud dries up. Most likely won't be working tomorrow either. I am bored out of mind sitting around the hotel. Any suggestions on things to do or check out? Driving to the city isn't out of the question. Coworkers have been hitting up the casinos and I may go there for a meal but gambling isn't my thing.

There's Long Lake resort down here by Poteau with excellent fishing or Clayton Lake and Wister lake with cabins to rent. Long Lake rents mini pontoons. Or if you like a quick hog hunt on public ground there"s Skyline drive with cabins to rent. But this is a couple of hours drive from the City. I'm sure some of the other lakes have vacant cabins or camp spots open right now if you like to fish. As far as firing ranges near the city I can't answer that question. When I was working off I used to pull my bass boat and rent a storage space for it.

An hour east of OKC is kind of a dead area.  If you're willing to drive an hour-ish there is an outstanding gun museum in Claremore.  It's the J.M. Davis Gun Museum and It's a definite must in my opinion.  The Will Rogers museum is also there and is a very interesting place to visit.

That's close to my area. Hogs are all over the place around here.

Op, I've worked around that same area. There isn't much to do without traveling to the city.

Yeah we had pigs on camera on the mountain this morning. People don't believe me when I tell them public land is ate up with pigs. They just don't understand that's where the doggy boys catch the hogs to release onto private land.   I bet between Wister lake management area and Poteau Mountain alone we had 125 different hog pictures. We've had pictures on Pine Mountain Sky Line Blue Mountain and Sugar Loaf. We were down at Clayton the other day to the Bow hunting only refuge and seen more hogs than elk or deer. The GD doesn't want rid of the hogs that's why they don't allow baiting on public lands. Yeah in couple of weeks the state should have the helicopter out trying to run the pigs out of the Coal creek duck habitat. Oh Op On X Hunting apt is well worth the money as well Hunt Stand.

Man, we definitely hunt some of the same areas! . The area between Heavener and Hodgen is loaded with pork too.

There's a corn field across the river from me that's an absolute honey hole for pigs.

I know some Meads (pretty sure I've coon hunted with them). Nope, don't recognize that dude (nice BTW). But we kill some nice deer where I live. Usually just deer hunt in the yard.
