They nailed the Long Island GOP perfectly. A bastion of corruption, malfeasance and nepotism. Of course we elected a Democrat to be Nassau County Executive and got the exact same thing: cronyism and political hacks calling the shots. No difference any longer. The GOP lost the Town if Hempstead which was the farm team for the state GOP for ages. Town of Oyster Bay is trying to clean up but there are still many insiders and sweetheart connected deals going through. Once TOB falls you will pretty much see nothing left of the GOP down here.

Frankly I think single party rule in New York State will be the norm from now on. Just look at California. If I were a party member I would tell the leadership to write off New York and focus on free states and keeping them free. Throwing Republican money at New York is a waste. Most people in NYC would be perfectly happy to have a communist style ballot with only one choice for any given office.

The irony is the Dems are always bitching about low voter turnout and improving election laws to make it “easier” to vote. The number one reason we have low turnout, especially in NYC, is we effectively have one-party rule.

If the Republicans pulled out, how long of you think it would be before the liberal media started screaming about one party rule? About 10 years ago the New York Times complained about it when the Democrats last ran everything. Probably because they got hit on taxes. Of course the irony is their favored party runs everything but they lose a party to complain about. Cannot complain about the GOP screwing things up when they have no offices or candidates running. And you cannot complain about your party even if they are the ones causing the problems. They need the GOP around in order to criticize them and sell ad slots.

Both parties exhibit systemic corruption.  But Dems promise free Chit.  Maybe GOP should promise free stuff too, we would be in the same position economically but without the 2A violations.

not only is it free chit, but my gut feeling is that NYS also employs a lot of people who would probably starve if they had to work in private industry.  they are not about to vote R and kill the goose that......
