Thought I would get a new thread going for a west slope shoot/meet/greet.
How are either 3/7 or 3/14? Was thinking somewhere between Delta and GJ again, assuming the desert is not all mud. Cameo would be an option if we want a bona fide range or if everywhere else is a mud pit, but we'd have babysitters too. The ROs there are usually pretty relaxed though. |
Count me in. Any day works for me, and thanks for putting this out there.
I'll know better on dates in a day or so, but I'll do my best to make it. It's always a good time
Thanks for getting this in the works.
Either the 7th or the 14th will suffice. We can construct a "bona fide" range and be safe doing it without "official" oversight; the desert is a good place to meet up. Flying the BFL and grilling out in the Spring has always been fun and we ought to continue that. Open to rebuttal... |
Low fire danger = high fun factor
Roger that! Desert is preferred, so barring a mud pit, we will plan on a desert shoot. I'd just assume do it the same place as a few years ago, if the road is OK. |
Just send it. This is my Douglas pass area we do some shoots at, but I’d rather go down south wherever you have found.

That spot outside of Delta was decent last time
March 14th would work I think but dont plan around my schedule....its always subject to change these days |
I'm off on the 7th, but I get off at 0800. I work the 14th. Access for me will be dependent in if my Jeep is mobile at that time, unless someone is willing to pick up a armed hitchhiker.
It would be nice to get to know some of you guys down here. |

Let's pencil in the 7th. Seems to be best for the majority of folks.
Details to follow, but tentatively say 10AM? |
That date works for me. If the weather plays nice, I’ll probably get out there the night before and camp.
What is the dirt road like getting in there? |
I will try to make it. Missed the last one. Will try harder this time.
Wish I could try and make it, Too risky for me given the traffic and weather on the eastern side.
The dirt road getting in was passable with a 2wd car, last time we went there.
Location and directions will be posted up well in advance of the shoot, we're going to try and recon the road first and adjust from there. I'll bring a table, grill, and charcoal for cooking. Bring your own food, but everyone is welcome to use the grill. |
I'm tentative for that date. Work and life always seem to disrupt things at the last minute.....
< Table, grill, 10x10 canopy, a couple of primitive targets...
I can't make it, but I can lend some stuff, steel targets etc if itll help
I bet we have enough stuff. I have some steel and target stands, and some pistol only steel. This pistol steel needs a proper retirement anyway.

I am getting ready to start a new job but I would be interested for sure :)

I heading out to the shoot site in an hour. I’ll update later.

road is dry but probably too much for a low clearance car.
UXO keeps the rifraf out? Attached File This look like the place? Attached File Attached File |

4.3 miles and about 40 from the pavement straight up wells gulch.
Dry for now, but not a car friendly road. I’ll shuttle anybody up who needs a ride from the trail head. I’m thinking you guys were talking about the place I showed above, or here, a couple hundred yards away down in the bottom. Attached File Attached File The wind was ripping and it was 36. Hunkered down behind a piñon and did a little shooting. Attached File Blasted on this rock with a 45. Not putting and steel up today. Attached File Arftard selfie Attached File |

That just adds to the fun.
Ya, that looks like it. Top post. Anyone coming with a low-clearance car? |
Oh yeah , there was a lot of traffic today. This was near the highway. Nothing happening up near the shoot area.

Probably 70% of that road was car friendly, the other 30% was bad.
Get to the trailhead and I’ll get you up there. |
I was up on the Unc yesterday trying to find elk, and it was cold and windy there too. Hopefully it's better by the weekend
There were a couple fresh elk tracks up there yesterday, but I only saw sheep.
So far looks like 9 or 10 folks. I will have at least one kid with me, maybe two. Both shoot.
Location is top of Wells Gulch Road. 11AM work? Let it warm up a little bit. Attached File Thanks for the tack to the top. |
Works for me. I’m going up Friday and spending the night. Anybody else? Good opportunity for night ops.
I’ll have a couple rifle steel, some pistol steel and target stands. I bet we have plenty of stuff to put downrange. I should bring my ATV. Just might. |
Okay folks, in theory, I'll have time to burn that Saturday. Dont make me official in the count, but I'm gonna try my damndest to be there

The boy has shotgun practice Friday night, might have to skip it.

It’ll be cold but I got cabin Fever. Steaks will be hot long enough. I have plenty of charcoal. A ribeye done like that is a beautiful thing. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Ordering parts for the Jeep in a few minutes.....
Tentative Worst part is that I get off work at 0800 on the 7th. |
Anyone else considering camping Sat Night?
Another question, are campfires allowed? |
Edit: Didn't realize how far it was from Springs. Hopefully I can catch the next one. |
We're planning to camp Friday. Won't be able to camp Saturday.
Weather looks promising. |
