According to the weather channel this is snow is horrible.

I went to the store today for supplies.  Ice tea, celery, and popcorn.

9-12" with 40mph winds forcast down here in Rock Co. Probably get 1" and calm winds. Schools already closed for tomorrow.

What has happened to people in this state? 4-6" of snow is like an apocalypse now. School's already cancelled for tomorrow everyone talking about emergency plans. 20 years ago this wouldn't even be a story

The weather forecasters are causing a lot of the panic by acting like we have never had snow before.  Then you have gov telling everyone to stay home so they don't have to deal with anyone.  Then there are the chickens that are afraid of everything.

All I would like form the weather people is hey we have 6-10" ,  leave all the hyperbole out of the forecast.

I think that somewhere along the line, the legal people got involved. Since so many companies
are terrified of lawsuits, they went along with this and now they seem to always go with the worst case scenario.
What they don't realize is that ruins their credibility, and eventually a storm will come along
just like they predict but people will ignore them because they got it so wrong so many times before.

I just pay attention and use common sense. Been working for nearly 62 years now.

Well the weather channel fails again.  Right now i have less than 1 inch of snow.  My asphalt dry is about 90% clear.
Of course the weather channel fear mongering has closed the schools here.

My plowing budget for the town is in great shape, so far, lol.

This is the first time we'll have to send out the trucks this year, so I'll probably have an extra culvert I can fix next year.

I'm northwest of Milwaukee and I feel like I'm living on another planet from everyone else. The plow went by at 6AM and it hasn't let up all day. Wife got the van sideways on the way home from work this morning. I'm actually glad they called it for our school. If they were out in this mess, our bus would either drive into the cornfield or not make it up the hills. I went out over lunch and I couldn't tell where the road was. I'm not sure how much snow we have. I blew 3" off the driveway this morning and there must be 8" on the deck with 12" drifts.
I was talking to the guys in Milwaukee and it sounded like it just rained all day. The freeways look good on the traffic cams though.

We got around 7" in New Lisbon.  School is on a 2 hour delay with a chance of completely being canceled again today.  Roads are not good.  But I'm loving having a plow truck.  Takes me 30 minutes to do my driveway and the road.  I always hit up a couple of neighbors too.

But this isn't an "OMG!  15 feet of snow!" things.

ZOMG up to 14" with whiteout conditions! Yeah, bullshiiiiit.

I'm just a smidge south of Madison, and we got maybe 5". At this point I'm convinced they do this just drum up panic and ratings for the news.

I ended up with 3" of snow.    I plowed with the ATV.  I always have fun getting to plow.

9 AM this morning the weather channel showed a map saying Friday through Saturday we are looking at 12-18" with 100% snow on Friday and Saturday.
They are already starting to walk it back.

Sure wish the packer game was at Green Bay. Those poor cowboys would just roll over and quit.

Remember the blizzards back in the late 70's. Driving my ole 67 Mustang with bald 60's in the snow to school. Not much heat and no defroster. Ice scrapper in one hand, wheel in the other. Doing the ole feather the gas and slipping into neutral at the lights. One foot on the brake and other on the gas to keep her running.Trying not to slide into the other lane and hit the other cars. No seat belts and a half turn of free play in the steering. OH, the good ole days.

All that great driving experience sure helps today. Icy roads who gives a chit.

El Camino (late 70's) with a 350.  Even if I loaded the rear end with sandbags it was still a gamble to see which direction the car wanted to aim.

I had a 69 GTO, bought it new in 69 at age 19. Back in those days, studded snow tires were still legal. I had a set for the Goat on extra rims, I only put them on for snowstorms. Great car for the street, not much good as a "woods truck". That's why, in '76 I bought my first 4x4 truck, a GMC Sierra Grande K25. I've also owned an 84 Chevy Scotsdale K25, 89 Dodge Dakota 4x4, 98 GMC Sierra K2500 (still have it, since it was new, 285,000 miles on the clock) and an '04 TJ Wrangler Rubicon. All 4x4s. The '76, '84, and the TJ Rubicon all had/have Western snow plows. I also have a plow on an Arctic Cat Prowler 700XTX UTV. Wife drives a '21 Cherokee 4x4. Only my work vans have been 2 wheel drive... they suck in winter.

Let it snow...

I bought about 235 lbs of meat yesterday, but that wasn't because of snowmegeddon, just my normal quarterly meat buying run.

...and my bidet laughs at those hoarding the tp.

I got between 40mm and .50BMG of snow, and roughly the same amount in the last snowfall. This time the wind was worse.

Looking out at what's on my deck, I'd say 3" max new snow on it, since it was shoveled off earlier in the week. The 5-8" forecast was a no-show.

The slush underneath is going to be the issue tonight.
Feed lots are sanded,  buddy put down extra bedding in the barns.
Filled some tanks incase of frozen water lines to pens, which always happens.

On top of that I have to drive to SoCal Monday morning for work.
Yippee!

I had 6" of snow.  There was a drift about 20 ft long behind my F350 that was ass high as the rear bumper.   2 1/2 hrs on the atv and all is clear.  I even put out an extension cord to plug the truck in for tonight.  I was kind of surprised that some of the dead ash trees did not come down.

To be fair, they are generally really good at snow removal up there. My daughter went to Michigan Tech for 4 years, and we were up there visiting during some pretty nasty storms. I was always amazed at how quick and efficient they were at clearing the roads, including most side streets, while in good old Dodge County the side streets would be terrible for days after a storm of 6-8".
