I’m on TOU with NVEnergy, so I need MINIMAL energy expenditures between 1p-7p.

I have a variable speed pump with 8 timer slots. Current slots are:

1 egg timer 1450 3 hrs
2 egg timer 1950 1 hrs
3 egg timer 2750 1 hrs
4 egg timer 3450 3 hrs
5 schedule 3450 2550 1am 8 am 7 hrs
6 schedule 2750 2750 11:00 am 1 pm 2 hrs
7 schedule 2000 7 pm 8 pm 1 hrs
8 disabled

I run the egg timers if we’re in it during the day. Am I gonna turn green with this schedule? If so, what’s the minimum I should run during peak hours and what RPM for best results?

30,000 gal or so, full sun from sunrise to sunset. Dogs like to get in there too. Standard chlorine with cartridge filter.

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping you’d chime in. Flow rates are that bad at low RPMs then?
My beef is it’s just so damn loud if we’re out on the patio.

Is there a big difference in algae if I run it during the day or night, so long as it’s 8 hours?

Our row of Oleanders is damn near as big as our house.  Wife absolutely loves them.  I have to clean out our skimmer basket every single day.

This one is a little old, but I haven't been around a lot lately.  I've got a 11k gal in ground pool using salt water and a Pentair variable programmable pump as well.  During the summer, I run my pump at 1650rpm from 6am-8am, 2450rpm from 12pm-2pm and 1650rpm from 5pm-7pm.  I'm sure you could shuffle the times a bit.

I picked these speeds based on the flow and volume of my pool.  I've determined that this gives me at least 2 full turnovers of water per day.  My chlorinator requires at least 1550rpm to sense enough flow to engage the salt cell, which is why I picked 1650rpm for my slow speed.  If I remember correctly, at 1650rpm, the pump pulls ~450w.  At 2450rpm it's pulling 1100w or so.  At 3200rpm (my max setting), it will pull about 2100w.  I have a manual setting of 2800rpm which I use for vacuuming and it pulls about 1800w.

this is accurate from my experience.  i tried to do like 1800 nearly around the clock and had algae problems.  problems didn't go away until i started at least 2800 for most of the run time.  the flow into the pool needs to be strong enough to push the chlorine down to where the algae is growing on the walls.
