Howdy All,

I want to get my 14 year old daughter in the snow so we're headed your way January 2nd-6th.  We'll be staying in the Twin Mountain area.

A request for you NH folks: snow reports?

When is first snow?
How much accumulation is on the ground?

Thanks guys,

CMOS

Sortof near Twin.  A couple towns west ish at about 1100'.

Have had snow cover since before Thanksgiving.  Only two events where I had to clear my driveway though.

Probably had 5 or 6 inches of packed snow on the ground since early December.

Then yesterday happened and it became summer with summer rain.  Now I just have patchy snow on the ground.

So that's the bad news.

Good news is you're not coming for awhile and there is plenty of time for it to snow.  The area ski resorts are open.  At least Bretton Woods and Cannon.

We're not going to ski but I have planned: Gondola ride to top of Loon Mountain Resort, Train ride around Mount Washington, and Snowmobiling at Woodwards White Mountain Resort.

I damn sure hope there is snow!

Im about 35 ish minutes from Twin North East

We have had snow since before thanksgiving, with one good storm actually requiring removal(I think we got about 12" or so in one wack).

It rained a ton Monday and it melted off, along with all the snowmelt off the mountains we had a lot of flooding and road damage......so bad my Wife got Stranded in Bethel, ME and couldn't make it home for 24+ hours. We should have snow coverage soon, BUT if you plan on renting a snow-machine you may have trail closures due to storm damage...especially if you rent one out of of Gorham, NH.

It should be at least partially open by the time you get here, but heads up on the rt 302 closure and the detours.

Back open.  Supposedly a spot or two where it is alternating traffic with a portable stop light.

That was fast.

How about some Snow Tubing?  You can do this while at Loon Mountain.

Also might be able to do some dog sledding.

Muddy Paw

Had a great time when I did it some years ago.  Had just as much fun hanging out with all of the dogs there after the trip, as I did on the trip.

Do you mind if I ask a question?

I am curious what do you think of Brandon Herrera's campaign.    Does he have a "shot"?

I took my toddler there to just meet the dogs about a year ago. We spent about two and a half hours just meeting each dog individually. There were only two dogs there (out of 50+) that we couldn't have our toddler go up to. They are some really happy dogs.

We also kept the toddler away from the momma dog with her puppies, because they were only a few days old.

The staff are a really nice group of people, too.

It flew south for the winter?

Dunno but it's stupid warm and most of mine has melted--and by that I mean I have a couple of places I see snow and that's it.  Muddy as shit too.  Supposed to cool down this weekend I think.

Kinda had similar last year and then got hit with drop and drop after drop later.

This was March 4th last year in the Lakes Region.  Big Tex 60-PI12 in the background.  I've since moved an hour north.

It'll be -30 up here before you know it.

I'm uncovering more and more apple trees on my land and doing some 'crop tree release' thinning around them and kind of want to see what they do next year.

Some of these poor things are either wildly overgrown or twisted all over the place trying to get some sun.

Resilient little suckers are apple trees.

Guys,

It appears there is no snow in the forecast for the next 10 days.  If we were to drive North a bit, could we get in some snow?

This whole trip was planned to get my daughter in the snow so I'm wondering about canceling.

?

Quitter.

Wise call given your intent though.

I only have a heavy dusting on my place now.  A bit more than that further up the hill from me, but still not as much as there should be.

Just finally dipped back below freezing here today after several days above.  Hope it stays cool.  Towns were doing all their mud season warnings about rutting up gravel and dirt roads.

Same on both lol

Decent little squall yesterday morning while burning up a brush pile.  Didn't amount to anything though.

I need less snow this winter as I've got a bunch of junk to do outside at the new house.

I don't mind the snow accumulation....it makes the roads alot better up here, I just hope that this summer it doesn't rain like it did last year.....every single day lol

Luckily only about 6" here.  Was supposed to get less, but I guess she tracked a bit further north.  Oh well, nice fluffy stuff and snowblowed the driveway already.

Got right around a foot where I am too..

Nice fluffy crap

Sigh  I still feel "beat up" after horsing the blower around for like 6 hours and shoveling the church for about an hour..  I bet it was the church portion more than the blowing that killed me.

Still though Since I turned 35 Im like effe this white shit...  No love for it no mo

On the map im.in the 8-12....getting a cup of coffee in me then off to fire up the snowblower and see what's what out there...

Looks to be alot more then that

ETA: about a foot of snow, plus the storm over the weekend....and now it's rainning.

it's miserable to clear lol

sucks to be you

After the rain, it all mushed down on my driveway to about 2" of slush.  Not even going to touch other than the end of the drive where the plow pushed stuff up.

We must of gotten close to a foot the other day. When I got up there was about 8" of slush on my driveway.

My wife actually helped shovel too.

Not sure why I'm procrastinating on fixing my snowblower lol

wtf

Losing power again.  I'm still building a brush pile to burn from the earlier wind that knocked some of my trees down.  Luckily still in the 2-3" bit north of Littleton again.  I'll take it.

Started later here than it was supposed to, but the 80cc leaf blower did a number on it when I hit the driveway at 4PM.  Had about 4" then-another 3" of super fluffy stuff since then.

It was a great day to get another brush pile burned.
