Edited for a few changes.

Seems like a worth while use of time.  I've been putting off getting a first aid/trauma kit together.

Class locations and dates
https://cms.bleedingcontrol.org/class/search  Won't let me put in the link for MO only classes, but just enter the state and they come up.

Crime map
https://www.cityprotect.com/map/list/incidents?toUpdateDate=01%2F15%2F2020&fromUpdateDate=01%2F12%2F2020&pageSize=2000&parentIncidentTypeIds=149,150,148,8,97,104,165,98,100,179,178,180,101,99,103,163,168,166,12,161,14,16,15&zoomLevel=15&latitude=39.048643071371934&longitude=-94.5879025773044&days=1,2,3,4,5,6,7&startHour=0&endHour=24&timezone=-06:00

Classes are 90 minutes, located in KC, St Louis/St Charles and Columbia for Missouri.  Most are free of charge.

The KC classes are at St Luke's on Wornall Rd, just north of Country Club Plaza, anyone know how crime is in this area?  On the crime map the hospital is surrounded by dots, but none really close.

St Lukes on the Plaza is a relatively safe area. When I worked in this area 75% of the issues came from the fact that the methadone clinic is located on the east side of the hospital campus and the other 25% were from the younger kids from neighborhoods east and southeast of there who would flock there at night to see if they could get tangled up with each other.

Sounds good...my wife, a retired surgical nurse, said she wants to go too. So we'll pick a date and try a class. I carry a super compressed package of gauze, Quick Clot clotting gauze and a RATS tourniquet on me most days. My wife and I carry this with a more substantial first aid kit in all our packs. Thanks for the heads up. More training is always a good thing.

I’ve done a trauma casualty course through SRT, but I’m going to try and hit the one at Luke’s on the 21st.

If this is the program I think it is, the person who runs it is a doctor at Barnes-Jewish (maybe).

So I used the link and tried in Firefox, IE and Chrome browsers and then tried 'St. Louis, MO' and postal code 63011

and I'm still getting 'no data available' in the class/event table.

Anyone have suggestions on how to enroll?

Thanks

Enter the state then hit search.  Then I clicked on one of the red highlighted "Stop the bleed" links for a date for St Louis.  The ones I tried ultimately ended up with just a phone number.

ETA -A phone number for registration information.

So you’ve got a useless “tourniquet” in your pocket....the rats doesn’t work... seriously. Not saying this to be a mdick It seriously doesn’t work.

Good for getting training.  Don’t waste your time on any tourniquet that’s not on the REAL committee on TCCC list...there’s multiple options. (They’re “TCCC approved” bs they put on there isn’t the real thing.  They’re doing it to mislead people )

Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) Gen 7 and Gen 6
Ratcheting Medical Tourniquet -Tactical (RMT-T)
SAM Extremity Tourniquet (SAM-XT)
SOF Tactical Tourniquet – Wide (SOFTT-W)
Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet (TMT)
TX2” Tourniquet (TX2) and TX3” Tourniquet (TX3)

Thank you, I'll look into that! We do have several CATS tourniquets at home too. The 'RATS', which I have watched videos on, were used by contractor medics in the field and they seemed to show that the 'RATS' worked just fine. I figured if they were used on gunshot victims on the battlefield then they are good to go. But thank you for the heads up. Look on YOUTUBE under MyMedic Training: How two use the RATS Tourniquet....It says he is a LEO, SWAT Paramedic and 'Stop the Bleed' class instructor. You will find others who are qualified instructors that promote the 'RATS' also.
