The Springfield marketing for the Hellion got me interested in bullpups, something I never thought about too much before.  The more reviews I read about the Hellion, though, the more comparisons there were to other bullpups.  I've been checking out the bullpup section here and watching YouTube videos and I have come to the conclusion... that I can't come to a conclusion.

I would really like to handle some bullpups before plunking down the cash to order something and just hope that I like it.

I've seen people suggest renting one at a range, or handling one at a local gun shop, but so far none of the places I have checked have any.

This might be a long shot, but does anyone know of any shops or ranges in the St Louis area that carry/rent bullpups so that I can check them out first hand?

They do have some fun machine guns to shoot there!  The Krink is especially fun.

Could try The Range STL as well.  https://therangestl.com/

Just checked their website.  Shows they have Hellion and X95 both in stock in Bridgeton.  I'll have to check them out.

Thanks!

I was running errands the other day and ran by Range USA for a few minutes.  They had a Springfield Hellion and an IWI X95 for sale as well as for rent.  I didn't have time for a range session, so I just checked out the two behind the counter.

The Hellion fits me like a glove.

I'm going to swing back by to rent it to make sure, but at this point, I think I'm sold.

Thanks!

Well, my financial situation changed and I did not buy a new rifle after all.  I try to buy one per year, but I'm gonna have to skip it this year.

I decided to use the funds I had available to buy some new furniture for one of my old rifles.  I ran into issues finding one of the parts, and by dumb luck I stumbled across a place I never knew existed that had what I needed.

https://www.midwestgunworks.com/

When I picked up the part (you can order online and pick up locally) I asked the guy behind the counter how long they had been there.  He said 20 years.

I forget exactly what I said, some exclamation about being surprised, and he told me that he hears that a lot.

He told me that he lived in the area for 5 years before he knew they were there.

They had an AUG and an MDRX on the wall (among several other guns).  I asked to see the MDRX (it was first on my list of bullpups at one time, and the most expensive) and was surprised by the weight.  I'd heard they were heavy, but to me, it was very noticeable.  It just did not feel comfortable to me at all.  This is exactly why I wanted to find shops that had the different bullpups in stock.  It's one thing to watch Youtube videos and read reviews, it's another thing to actually manhandle the rifle in person.

I'll have to go by again when I have more time.  They were getting ready to close when I got there.  Seemed like a really nice place.
