Brennco Farms, Inc. selling hogs to publicIn order to spare needless destruction of hogs that would normally be shipped to Tyson Foods and Indiana Packers Corporation, Brennco Inc. will be selling market-ready hogs to anyone who can butcher, said Keaton Brenneman, a Brennco representative. Sales will be held every Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at 14527 Fife Road, Van Wert, Ohio until the pigs are gone. Hogs will be sold for $140 per pig.
“We sell our hogs to Tyson and IPC Packers in Indiana,” said Brenneman. “We have a massive backlog of pigs that can’t be moved and we need new barn space for the piglets that will be born in the next few weeks. If we don’t move these pigs quickly, we will be forced to euthanize thousands of hogs.”
The crisis has occurred due to the fact that 900 employees at the Tyson Foods pork processing plant in Logansport have tested positive for coronavirus.
A Facebook event has been created for the May 9 sale called “Brennco Saturday Hog Sale.” Due to an overwhelming response, Brenneman noted that the company is currently only selling hogs in groups of 10 or more. Those interested in hogs can reach out to Brenneman on Facebook.
